Machine_Madness: Madness has now come over me; +20|6652|Brisbane, Australia

So I have some graphic design assignment due soon and we have to make a logo for a made up company with our initials in it. We had to put a certain message across with the logo as well.

This is what i've done

I figured the message I put across would be Australian based.

Blur/Brush the edges of the JH - they are pixellated.
See if you can either sharpen or blue the entire country as on some edges its either too blurred or not enough.
The sun glare is good, And the ENTERTAINMENT seems ok.

ugh... lens flare... I'd really suggest pulling that out.
take a look t other real life logos, not a bad layout but it could be tweaked (less photoshop effects on logos the better - usually).

showed my teacher the draft, said the flare is good...

Its looks a tad different when we print it so the edging came out fine.

If you use the lens flare, use the white one (forget what it''s called), that pinkish one is fail.

Agreed with Ryan. I only ever even use the white one when I'm trying to go for summer day, and already have a light source.

The logo is much too pixellated, and the bevel looks...pretty bad.

I tried an improvement on it:

Didn't change much, just took out things that make it look amateur-ish, and added Tasmania
I don't have the font you used though.

Lens Flares and complex colour effects are rarely effective in logos in my opinion. In my experience you're better off keeping things clean and simple (vector graphics if possible), Bernadictus's example is much closer to what I would be looking for.
