Alright, this is the weirdest problem I've ever had and I could only log on to one of my secondary accounts. Basically once the intro is done, it gets to the log in and everything is flickering and whatnot making it nearly impossible to use. Most importantly, its not possible to retrieve an account via nickname because I can't press that button! Once logged on, its the same deal and I barely can see anything. Luckily, I was able to launch a singleplayer game and the loading is flickering also. Once I got into the game, everything was PERFECT, but when I press ESC to go to the main screen the flickering is back. This makes it nearly impossibe to get into a game!

I reinstalled vista last night and just installed the newest patch for BF2 after installing it.

Any known solutions? Heres a screeny, but imagine this constantly flashing and different bars and shapes popping up.

Here's another SS, notice how the menu buttons are in the middle of flashing:

Back it up first, but delete your movies folder in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2

You need video card drivers, google to find the most recent ones that go with your card.

If it was the drivers, why is it that gameplay is not effected one but?

What would deleting the movies folder do? I mean, the intro and whatnot are not effected, just the menus so I don't thnk the movies folder is part of it, unless this is a repeting problem.

With this, and the rest of the torubles that Vista and BF2 get, I simply made a small partition on my HDD (about 60 GiGs), put Windows XP on it, and now I play all of my old games on that now.  BF2 runs perfectly fine on XP, but is really shaky w/ Vista.

Aside from that, good luck.  I'm not sure what you can do.

Bypass the loading screen. When you right click the Battlefield2 icon go to "run", and add the modifiers which instruct BF2 to automatically log in to a designated account.

Or get a program that does it for you.

Because you said you reinstalled windows but you didn't say you installed recent non beta drivers.

When I reinstalled windows I had the problem until I reinstalled non beta drivers which fixed it.

But okay, I won't twist your arm.

Bypassing the loading screen won't help me one bit-all of the other screens, like Options and BFHQ are also like this. It makes it nearly impossible to do server searches, unless you know what you're looking for.

I see, I was under the impression you were just yelling out the first thing that popped into your head-when I saw this, I thought the same thing but threw it out when gameplay was not effected (other than an occasional flick or 2 when pressing Tab). I'll go look for some non-beta drivers, if I can.

I'm downloading the NVIDIA drivers right now, hopefully this will work.

Thanks for the help so far!

Edit: Downloaded drivers and the set up told me it could not find suitable drivers so I tried again and it told me I already have some of the files on my computer, so I'm guessing I have the most up-to-date drivers?

It turns out I have the latest drivers from NVidia.

What can I do?

As someone mentioned above, disable the movies.

Like I said above, that will do absolutely nothing. The problem occurs in more places than just the movies, and I'm not going to go through and make fixes that ignore the true problem, the Video Card Drivers.

I had the same problem with 2142, on I never play 2142 so I was unable to navigate the menus.

I updated my drivers from the newest to some from October 2007 and now everything is just peachy. Thank you Jamesey!
