Hi everybody, i have battlefield 2 complete collection installed in my pc that have windows vista, mcaffe antivirus 2008, 1 gb ram, nvidia 7600 go 256 mb, intel core 2 duo, and i have an dsl connection by router of 3 mg.
So, i start the game, i select a server, and loading takes 2 or 3 minutes, thats normal, but when it appears that of veryfing client data it takes 10 min or so. And when i get into the game, its very laggy having 70,80, 90 of ping. I tried with low settings, mid settings and high settings and the lag is the same. I think that i can run in high, because when i play in singleplayer it run very smooth with high settings.
And sometimes, when im connecting to a server it appears a punkbuster error saying service communication failure, and sometimes appear network corruption data.
I think that this problems are not due to windows vista, because when i got in this same pc win xp, it happen the same.
Am, i have btf2 updated to 1.41 and i update punbuster manually.
Plz help me!!!!

TBH doesn't sound like you got a great connection, sere speaks the truth about RAM but the problems seem to be pointed towards connection, if you're on wireless try maybe using a cable instead, it's a not a quick fix but change your ISP, depending on what speed it is, if they cap it at peak times etc. Myabe try updating firmware on your router, I have serious problems with connections, and that's down to a dodgy netgear router.

My connection work great in all games when i play online: enemy territory, crysis, cod 4. But in battlefield 2 no. I dont use wireless, i conect my laptop to the router by a cable. I have a thing called gygabite mini wirelan card 801 mg or somethin that i think that that should be only useful for wireless. And one thing, what is ISP?¿?¿?

If you can, bump up the RAM to 2GBs, preferably 4GB for Vista. (If supported)

Aside from that, don't Download/Seed torrents while playing (jacks up your ping), limit the connectivity of others while playing, as well as playing on more local severs...try to find servers that are near you for a lower ping.  Sounds like the connection itself is pretty shotty, see about getting your plan/service upgraded (I went from a standard AT&T package to an ELITE AT&T package...still sucks in terms of fast connections, but for reg. use it's fantastic)

To reduce lag, try playing & 800 X 600 in low settings, and see if you get any lag.  Your card can handle it, but the RAM can't.  I use to play high settings w/ 1GB of RAM, and used 99% of my RAM.

Could it be the McAfee? Or some other software running in the background? And don't be too fast to rule out Vista, perhaps run it in compatibility mode.
