i would prefer to see that the Commander not always the player is with highest Rank ...
these people make sometimes nothing with their Job ...
i hate it ...

i would prefer to see that the player who want to be an commander is an commander ...
sometimes the Squad-Leader make more then the commander ...

Maybe more emphasis on command points yes. But your point is a little skewered. Player who wants to be a commander gets it? So some snotty-nosed private (no offence meant) gets a commander over a veteran just because he applied early?

Deciding who will be commander via the number of commander points they have actually might be a good thing. If you prefer you might call them staff officers. Regardless the number of points as commander show more detication and knowledge of the commander role than simple rank does. Not all the time but I would venture to guess most of the time. I absolutely think that it should be a deciding factor on ties between two people of the same rank.  I personally which there was a separate commander rank. Basically like years of service stripes on the sleeve. Except commander stripes. This would be a different ranking system over the normal ranks. That would be an interesting feature.

Nothing wrong with the system, you say but how to get more commander-points when you are ine an lower rank that is a problem with every system you come up with.
Make the first appliant commander? so i you have some sort of NASA computersystem you are always commander, even if you suck ass as well. The system is pretty good right now. the ranking officer is Commander, seems logical to me. If you dont like him, Mutiny him. But you need almost yourentire team to do so, and not many people care about the commander. But that is a problem you will always have

If lower ranked guys never got to be commander, how would they ever gain any experience at it to be good at commanding?  The system stays.

Good post Flash.
