Well, Sydney for a start by thinking that humans can kill one of the most intelligent and mysterious animals for food, of which there is too much of in the world.
Whale meat. Hate to find out what blubber tastes like.
hunting endangered whales = bad
controlled hunting of a healthy whale population = acceptable
how does one hunt for minke whale?

Agreed, to me a whale is animal just like any other. So unless you deny the fact that humans have canines and relatively short entrails, you can eat it. Yes you have to be weary for over exploitation,.. just like with any other non-bred animal.Varegg wrote:
Is the whale under the threat of extinction ?
It's a common misconception that all whales are on the verge of extinction, some of them are and they are protected, other types of whales are not and the hunt for those is a very well regulated one ...
Too much of? Tell that to the people in Africa. One minky whale has about 2-4 tons of meat on it,SEREVENT wrote:

Some whales are endangered, and I agree that we should, if anything, help populate the species in some way.
Other whales aren't they should be treated like any other animal.
It's just plain ignorance Sydney ... they really don't know anything about it cept for the slogans ...

1. That's just so,.. new age. We were build to kill animals for food, our whole biological system is adjusted to that. Why kill a pig and not a whale; pigs are said to be very intelligent too?SEREVENT wrote:

2. Plainly bullshit! Everyone knows mice are the most intelligent species on the planet, followed by dolphins and humans.
Um, i don't know where the line as a whole should be drawn. But i don't agree in eating or killing whales/dolphins. I only eat free range and organic products. Pigs are quite intelligent, and when the "farmers" keep pigs in those little cubicals they don't even sit. They stand for their entire lives, no, they are also thrown, literally thrown, chickens too, into the lorries to be taken to the slaughter house. The animals are forcefed and have beaks chopped, no vaccinations and are born to die.Varegg wrote:

Not going into this debate, but just 1 thing: people need to STFU about that we are on top of the food chain 99% of those people probably never shot a animal themselves.Sydney wrote:

sounds fair enough. I've changed my mind. I suppose it's acceptable. I still wouldn't want to eat some myself though.Sydney wrote:

Irony at it's best, the minky whales we hunt live free all their lives somewhere in the vast ocean until they are harpooned and eaten.SEREVENT wrote:

That is something we can agree on and i follow about the same principles as you, there should be more focus on the treatment of animals for food production in general ... and for the often underpaid and unfairly treated people working in some of the food industry ...SEREVENT wrote:
