Actually the Shaq deal was better than I first thought it would be. His numbers were up in Phoenix and he was more energetic than when he was in Miami. We knew he couldn't make a lot of free throws, but guess what? Even those were up. He got in team into the bonus a lot more than Phoenix was used to, and Amare dominated even more than he used to. If you ask me, I'm happy with the Shaq deal. I'll be even more so when other teams can't play bitch ball and "hack-a-Shaq" every quarter.FEOS wrote:
I'm not a Spurs fan. I just don't like whiners who make excuses for their teams losing.
How'd that whole Shaq deal work out for the Suns?
Basketball is a contact sport. Anyone who thinks otherwise obviously doesn't watch the game. Or has a very selective attention span.
You aren't telling me anything I don't already know. Of couse, basketball is a contact sport. You are always being pushed and bumped and tapped and smacked. I just don't see how the Spurs get to play contact basketball while everyone else can't even touch them. As I have said for years, playing the Spurs is just not fair. They are allowed to grab players arms, knee them in the balls, among other things, without so much as a call. The other team, however, gets called for the foul for the tiniest things. As I have also said before, watch a game with the Spurs. Watch how Bowen grabs peoples arms. Watch how Duncan grabs jerseys. Watch how Ginobli lowers the sperm count on the other team with a nice crotch shot. All of those are no brainers, they are all fouls. But somehow Duncan's lack of coordination is grounds for a foul. Somehow when another teams jersey rubs against Parker or Duncan, it is an automatic foul. Duncan hacks a lot of people in the post, but he is known as a great defensive player, so he won't get the call, and instead gets credit for a block. Amare, or anyone else, gets a good block against Duncan, it must have been a foul, because Duncan dominates the post. I think it is bullshit for one team to be held to higher standards, while the other team plays as they want, with no consequences.
And one more thing? What excuses? I'm only echoing the general consensus of NBA fans across the nation. Nearly every single person I have spoken to, hates the Spurs, in Cali, in Arizona, in Seattle, and many other places. I bitch about the Spurs even when the Suns win against them. Everyone outside of San Antonio, and perhaps Texas, hates the Spurs from what I hear, and they feel the same way I do. They get away with too much shit. The NBA lately has been horrible with the way they call games. Even Rasheed Wallace said the Suns got screwed when they played the second time, at least according to Grant Hill, and to be honest, I find him to be trustworthy.
