The USAF. I'm guessing it would mainly be bombings. If this is the case, it reminds of when Isreal's prime minister Menachem Begin, back in 1981, ordered an undisclosed number of F-15 interceptors and F-16 fighter bombers to destroy the Osirak reactor in 18 miles south of Baghdad, Iraq.

Those are some very cool looking 'troops' (I saw the B-2 and F-22 fly at an airshow last weekend--awesome). But the Bush Administration would have to be amazingly stupid to merely bomb Iran. It would strengthen the anti-US hard-liners in the Iranian government. And they would rebuild and put the nuclear sites far underground next time.



Oh christ, I forgot the Bush administration is amazingly stupid. 

Operation Desert Storm consisted of only bombing raids on Iraq for 1 month straight. It was extremely successful.

Depending on how you calculate it its somehwere between U$3-6bn/yr = U$8-16m per day.
Plus the US allows donations to Israel to be treated as charity = tax write-off. So any money sent back to Israel effectively gets a top-up from the US govt. Maybe they should do the same for the Mexicans?

BTW America also guarantees Israel's oil supply. They get to call on the US Strategic Reserve.

I just thought of another way to look at it. That's $200 a year from every American. That's $800 a year for a family of four.

The last President to really attempt to eliminate the national debt was Thomas Jefferson. Also consider it is our Congress ultimately writing the checks.

Saying military options aren't off the table isn't the same thing as saying you intend to use them.

What the govt says and what the govt intends are not necessarily the same.
Its just as likely the US agenda is to attack Iran and Iran's nuclear program is an excuse to attack, same as Iraq's supposed WMD were a ruse to justify an invasion.
I'm guessing the agenda is to grab the oil and wipe out any threats to Israel, the evidence comes later.
