What troops will the US use to attack Iran? Isn't the US Army already stretched to its limit in Iraq?

- Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term

Troops?
We sure as hell don't need troops to attack Iran and pummel them into the earth, but to stabilize them and keep the peace after you bet we don't have enough.
But seeing that the sheeple nearly forgot Afghanistan existed I'm sure we could ditch Iraq in the same fashion.

The USAF. I'm guessing it would mainly be bombings. If this is the case, it reminds of when Isreal's prime minister Menachem Begin, back in 1981, ordered an undisclosed number of F-15 interceptors and F-16 fighter bombers to destroy the Osirak reactor in 18 miles south of Baghdad, Iraq.san4 wrote:

Those are some very cool looking 'troops' (I saw the B-2 and F-22 fly at an airshow last weekend--awesome). But the Bush Administration would have to be amazingly stupid to merely bomb Iran. It would strengthen the anti-US hard-liners in the Iranian government. And they would rebuild and put the nuclear sites far underground next time.nukchebi0 wrote:

Oh christ, I forgot the Bush administration is amazingly stupid.
Operation Desert Storm consisted of only bombing raids on Iraq for 1 month straight. It was extremely successful.san4 wrote:

Actually it works out to 8,219,178 a day. "To help Israel out of its economic slump, the U.S. provided $9 billion in loan guarantees over three years". Keep in mind that is only economic aide. We provide the same (3bn a year) in military assistance. So that's 8,219,178 x's 2 a day.Spearhead wrote:

I just thought of another way to look at it. That's $200 a year from every American. That's $800 a year for a family of four.Kmarion wrote:

I'm going to stop thinking about it now. Before I need anti-depressants.

Depending on how you calculate it its somehwere between U$3-6bn/yr = U$8-16m per day.
Plus the US allows donations to Israel to be treated as charity = tax write-off. So any money sent back to Israel effectively gets a top-up from the US govt. Maybe they should do the same for the Mexicans?
BTW America also guarantees Israel's oil supply. They get to call on the US Strategic Reserve.

We could also add the cost of the wars the US has fought on Israel's behalf - Starting with Iraq and soon Iran?

Fuck Israel
This wouldn't surprise me. "Sort that one out Obama."
I am convinced the USA is going to start a war with Iran. If Bush doesn't Obama will. If he doesn't he will be a one term president and the next guy after him will. There is a middle east agenda which transcends political parties. The strategists, lobbyists and bankers will make it happen regardless of public opinion, morality or common sense.
I'm doing an LPG conversion on my car and building my bunker in preparation. Seriously.

Bear in mind also Israel has defaulted on $42bn of loans over the years.Actually it works out to 8,219,178 a day. "To help Israel out of its economic slump, the U.S. provided $9 billion in loan guarantees over three years". Keep in mind that is only economic aide.
Don't think you're getting these 'loans' back.

Surely you mean the "New" conservatives. The ones who have expanded government while playing the role of sugar daddy to Sub-Saharan Africa.Spark wrote:

The last President to really attempt to eliminate the national debt was Thomas Jefferson. Also consider it is our Congress ultimately writing the checks.

I must have missed the part in the article where it said Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term. Was that before or after the White House said they preferred to settle the issue through diplomatic means?
Saying military options aren't off the table isn't the same thing as saying you intend to use them.
My God you are some cynical motherfuckers.

What the govt says and what the govt intends are not necessarily the same.Saying military options aren't off the table isn't the same thing as saying you intend to use them.
Its just as likely the US agenda is to attack Iran and Iran's nuclear program is an excuse to attack, same as Iraq's supposed WMD were a ruse to justify an invasion.
I'm guessing the agenda is to grab the oil and wipe out any threats to Israel, the evidence comes later.
