Well, I've been getting this problem lately, hopefully a BF2 Veteran could lend me a hand.

When I start up my computer, Battlefiled 2 does everything it's suppose to.  But, say I quit the game, I crash/lag out, or it just happens to revert to my desktop, I'll double-click my Shortcut to launch it, my monitor flickers, turns black, then goes right back to the desktop.

I have a Dell OptiPlex 745 Mini-Tower.  It has a 128MB ATI Radeon 1300X Series....I think I have the latest drivers for the card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For XP (is probably same/similar in Vista):

When that happens, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Select Processes tab.

Click on Image Name to sort list by exe name.

If BF2.exe is listed (as I suspect it will be), select it, then click End Process.

Then try again...

^Yeah, BF2.exe doesn't show up.

I just read the stickies, I'll give those a try.  I'll be sure to keep this topic updated.

Hi, first i'd try repatching, sometimes this helps for unknown reasons.

Secondly, i'd run bf2 in a window to see if i could see an error msg, (http://bf2.fun-o-matic.org/index.php/Im … erties.jpg <-- change so that "+fullscreen 1" is "+fullscreen 0).

Also i'd like to know what resolution your running it at, if none of the above help, try running bf2 at a lower resolution (refer to the above picture, revert back to +fullscreen 1, and add +szx 800 +szy 600 to the end).

Let us know if this helped.

GOT IT!

I trid every possible method, repatched, and that didn't nothing.  Out of fustration, I decided to add my minotrs native resolution (in this case, 1920 by 1200) and the game started right up.

Thanks for all the help guys.
