I have just been reading this, i think its great news for the PC gaming industry that games are still selling like this

http://www.gameslave.co.uk/newscomments … n-Sold-Out

'Funcom have today announced that the collectors edition of their upcoming MMORPG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has now completely sold out in all markets, in addition roughly 700,000 copies of the standard edition have also been pre-ordered. The game launches across the world this week.

"Everyone in Funcom is delighted and humbled with the historical pre-order numbers for Age of Conan. If the information we have is correct, they represent the highest pre-order number for any global launch of an original PC game, ever, including the original World of Warcraft launch," said Morten Larssen, Funcom’s VP of Sales & Marketing'

well thats impressive, im surprised so many people have preordered it, there was lots of people in the beta saying it wasnt very good.

I suspect alot of these preorders are from semi fanatic MMORPG fans rather than casual players and new players.

The game is also ranked 5th out of all games played on Xfire at this moment. The great thing about this is that Age of Conan has not even been fully released worldwide yet... almost all of this game-time logged on Xfire is from 'Early Access' players- which is obviously a minute fraction of the total interested playerbase. The game is already more popular than Battlefield 2, Warcraft III, Guild Wars and (almost) Counter-Strike: Source...

Will be interesting to see just how big it blows up when it goes full retail . I'm holding my breath on the hype, but one thing that cannot be ignored is that this is the first 'WoW Threat' that has actually made anything of itself. Previous games that were hyped up vanished off the radar almost instantly (e.g. Lord of the Rings: Online)- whereas this game actually seems to have appealed to a niche of the MMO market, and it delivering everything it has promised.

Definitely good news!

Probably because they dared creating a different scenario. An adult one, without retarded orcs and teh gayes of all gays elves, not just a cuddly clone of WoW, which no one needs.
I´m actually tempted to check this one out, although I despise mmorpg. Will have to check wether I can afford it (time and money-wise).

Some of my friends are going mad about the game, but I'm just not interested.

Final Fantasy XI is enough for me (fucking love that game).
