That sounds strange - In my experience you won't get the promotion unless you have the requirements. So if that's what you meant, fair deal. It doesn't matter when you get the badges -----> because you won't get the promotion until you do...

The General ranks don't work like the Master/First Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant/Sergeant Major.

I got my 20.000 points about a week ago but i didnt have my basicknife or explosive badge. So i was made master sergeant.Since then i have my knife badge but not my explosive badge. I didnt think you needed the explosive badge to be made up to first sergeant but i havent been as i now have 22,000 points and ideas please

It is also worth noting that the upper ranks are not progressive. You will only earn one rank per point bracket. If you make it to Master Sergeant without the awards, you will not be promoted to First upon earning the missing awards.
