This problem started to happen to me latley please give me any ideas on how to fix it. I double-click of the BF2 icon and it starts like it normally does, the title screen comes up then my screen goes black. After my screen goes black usually the intro movies start, Well recently that has not occured. After my screen goes black I get booted back to my main screen and the game never loads. I've tried to reinstall the game and updating punkbuster to no avail. I need some help fixxing this so I get back to gaming.
Reinstalled? If you have, then it's probably a hardware issue, not enough RAM or a poor graphics card, updated your rig recently?
How can I lose so much memory from last friday till today when the only thing I installed was Spy sweeper. Plus is says I have 212 gb free of memory so I dont think its a memory issue
+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart 1 +playerName "your name" +playerPassword "your password"
Add this behind your target in the BF2 shortcut, and try it again. Maybe your game can't find the video files or something.

Tried that too. I get the little rectangle box that says Battlefield 2. Then it goes to full screen and starts to load the game but it stays black for a second and I still get thrown back to my desktop. Anyone else have an idea????????????????????? I have not upgraded anything recently either.

Maybe try to update direct X
Viva...
I've got the same kind of problem, but only after installing the 1.41 patch... The screen flickers, and after waiting a while I have to hit the ctrl+alt+del keys to see that the program is not responding
In my case, the only solution that seems to work is to uninstall the game and reinstall it again!
I don't know what else to do...

I have this problem, only if Battlefield 2 crashes, and then I prompt it to restart...might of because I installed all the games out of order, or something.
Anyways, rebooting your machine is a quick-fix if you need to get back into the game fast.
