Exactly. A religion that does not understand that God endowed us each with a brain, free agency, a society blessed with medicine and medical practitioners is just a typical man-made hodgepodge of religious ideas and uninspired wisdom.
When my loved ones suffer illness, they get a priesthood blessing as well as a doctor's visit. Part of such a blessing is to not only provide comfort to the suffering and/or healing, but to bless the skilled hands of doctors and other such caretakers with wisdom and inspiration to contribute to the wellness of the inflicted. Friggen duh.
This concept of "let god be my guide" makes me think of a joke I heard...
A man was on his roof because the flood waters were rising. His evacuating neighbor said, "hey neighbor, jump in my boat and we'll take you out of here!" The praying neighbor said, "No thanks, I know god will deliver me!"
Shortly thereafter, and a few more feet of water higher, a coast guard boat came by his home and told him to get in, but the man refused citing that his salvation will come through God.
Then the guy drowned, died, and met God. He angrily asked why God didn't save him...God said he tried...etc, etc..i forget how it went but this is the gist. It's like the biblical story of Naaman and Elisha.
