Hey I got a knew GFX card to run sli, anyway my first card which is what I have had for awhile is an 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition. Pic below
https://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/14-150-252-05.jpg
So I wanted to get sli for this card, cause I love it, so I ordered a duplicate.... but the thing is it's different looking, pic below(but all stats are the same :S)
https://www.elara.ie/elara/graphics/I621842.jpg

I have the 2 connected, but the 2nd card won't detect, 2nd card at the minute is the old 8800, but I had them changed around at first so the 2nd slot was the new one and still no luck...

Anyone know whats going wrong?

p.s: Please don't say the cards are compatible with each other, the way they look etc

p.p.s: My motherboard is Sli capable too.

Either a dead card or you havent enabled SLI in Control Panel.

Check 6-pin plug
Check SLI connector
Miminum w for SLI 88GT = 580w

Ok good after looking about, I think the fact I don't have Ntune might be a problem.. but thanks for the reassurance it'll work man:) will update if Ntune solves problem.

edit: is it just me or do I keep double posting.... :S

2nd edit: I have the 6 pin, sli bridge is fine and 650 Watt PSU. and both cards are fine they work individually. I can't find Sli in control panel either. It's not under 3D settings

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

if the specs are the same it should work. Tried uninstalling drivers and trying over?
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Will try that now, here's a question, if I apply the GFX drivers will it patch both cards/and vice versa if I remove them?

p.s: Here is the stats of both.

Also, even if I had a card in the Sli mode PCI-E slot, would it still detect on my computer? cause now it's not.

there is a possibility that 1 PCI-E  slot is broken.

I don't mean to imply anything, but are you using an nVidia based motherboard?  Did you connect the SLI bridge that connects the two cards?

I had to do that on mine. I just pulled a little chip out and flipped it to where the sli part on the chip was facing card #1 maybe he has to do the same to get power to flow to the second card.

Yep, got it sorted today, as you have said there was a clip on the motherboard it's an Nvidia one. Sli is now working, thanks for all the people that replies trying to help, I appreciate it.
