Haas/CNC Racing to replace Jeremy Mayfield in the 70 car, it was announced today.

CNC is a Hendrick farm team and fields the 70 and the 66.  Johnny Sauter has been named (at presant) to replace Mayfield, but as of now, no permanant replacement has been named.
(watch out for a Hendrick developement driver/Jr Motor sports Nationwide driver...)
Sauter drove the 70 last year for CNC and wasnt successfull.  I dont see him staying in the seat for long.

Speculate gentlemen...

Who will pick up the 70 CNC/Hendrick seat?

Man I am behind! I'm only just watching Martinsville 08 now (38 to go) - might skip a few of the races and go to the most recent though...I am now a Kurt Busch supporter!

I had thought about him as well.  He seems to be getting it done in the 88 for Jr Motor Sports.
I had also thought about Landon Castle, but he is really green...and still needs momma to wipe his nose really hehe.  He has shown good judgement with the car in the past, but sadly, has been the victim of somebody elses idiocy and hasnt really shown the finishes as it relates to his ability.

It should be interesting to see what comes of this.  If things go as I predict, we may well see the beginning of the next Jeff Gordon.  Think about it...

Casey Mears cant be 100% happy running like he is...in HMS equipment.  HMS cant be 100% happy with Casey either...not after this long and nothing to show for it really.  Point is...I see another seat opening up on the Cup side at HMS before long.

Kyle...

are you feeling ok? hehe

Martinsville was a good race.  If you gotta skip a race or so, skip Texas, it was not so much of a race.

cant believe there is a Busch supporter in this thread...

Qualifying underway at Pheonix.  Hendrick cars are looking good, they claim to be better in race trim.

Also:
15 May SPEED will televise a comedy show from Whiskey River.  Jr's club in Charlotte NC., that should be pretty good.  Must watch TV hehe.

Ryan Newman on pole.
The rocket man strikes again, now tieing Buddy Baker I think for career poles.

Tonight we're at Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500.  The action started at 7pm on FOX, with the wheels rolling at 7:45pm CST.  Mark Martin says he has the best car he's had in several years, so look for him to do well.  The usual suspects will be strong here too.  Last year Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson won the 2 races at Phoenix.

Jimmie Johnson wins, Jr. finishes 7th, Gordon 12th...not bad for the Hendrick bunch tonight.  Lets hope they have it togeather now.
Great run by Mark in the 8, I think his crew killed this win, he had saved a load of fuel (according to him).

Yes, it was.  Felt bad for Mark Martin, he had a good car and would've won if he could've stayed out.  His crew chief elected to pit and he went with the team decision, putting him 5th.

It was indeed, keep an eye out, SPEED may re-air it later in the week.
