i really don't thing the m24 is good. and i don't think the L86 is more acurate the M95. may be more power and u can pull out pistol and own. but i can hit direct targets with M95 that was hard with L86.

well, I can't hit the broadside of a barn with the M95 or M24, but I did Okay with the L96, but I agree, I like the MG36 as a sniper rifle, PKM does well also.

p90 is awful! Slow rate of fire. little damage. I've shot someone point blank plenty of times and nothing.

i guess ill have to unlock both snipers then.  awww it will kill me unlocking 2 things for one guy. but i guess i have already done that with assalt and support.  and for support the i unlocked both but i never use PKM.

l86 u get points with every sho because u get alot of damige kill assit if u dont get kill shots

the P90 sucks @$$..it took i was shooting a freaking sniper face to face and i hit him 7 times (i counted) and it still didnt kill him. P90 sucks get the sniper that thing pwns.

The L96 is by far the best infantry sniper rifle in the game. The crosshairs are extremelly thin (which translates to better accuracy). It does 95dmg no matter where you hit someone, but also, it seems everyone gets better 1hit kill rates with it. Reload times are also quicker which is important when you miss your shot. (Yes, snipers miss sometimes).

The M95 is still an interesting weapon. It's armor piercing capability is a mixed blessing. It's hard to hit a moving target's pilot but when you do, it rules. I love to camp the carriers sometimes and shoot out the troops that go into the plane or into the chopper. That's always fun. Also, a good hit on the chopper canopy can do a -2 bar damage which after like 5-6 shots will make the chopper start smoking. My 3 clan mates sometimes M95 rape the choppers and very quickly they go away to repair. However, against troops, it's sometimes inaccurate. The crosshairs are about 2-3 times the thickness of the M24,L96 rifles so you might have your crosshairs over a troop, but really you're a bit off. It's gotten better with the patch though.

So my conclusion, if you're a true sniper... get both, you will not regret it. If you're just a casual sniper, you might like to spend those unlocks on something else, especially when the M24 is already good enough.

Edit: Oh and don't get the P90, it f***ing blows.

Where did this "L96A1 has a silencer" thing start?  The only silenced weapons in the game are the Spec-Ops and Sniper pistols...

Ok I retract the silencer part...I'm probably wrong...I was under the impression it had one...I picked it up off of somewhere...my bad...sorry...

I know it seems dumb to say it, but the rifle acts very much like a suppressed L96, also called the AWS, here is the evidence.

Observation #1. The sound of the weapons is like "tsk.....KOOOOOOOOOW"  This mimics a suppressed sniper rifle exactly to a T, because the report of the weapon is muffled down to a simply "tsk" but the supersonic round still rips past the sound barrier leaving you with that awesome supersonic crack echoing off in the distance.  When on the battlefield you can easily hear the echoing of a L96 firing, but unless you are right next to the guy, I doubt you hear the muffled "tsk" report from the shot.

Explanation #1. A real suppressed rifle acts very much in the same way when firing supersonic ammo.  If firing subsonic ammo it would not even make that echo sound from the supersonic crack. When silencing pistols, even with supersonic ammo, the silencer and short barrel combination  slow the bullet down below the sound barrier negating the supersonic crack, thus all you hear is "tsk, tsk, tsk" as you fire away as compared to the L96.

Observation #2.  The muzzle flash is insignificant compared to an M24 or M95.  In game I can tell when an enemy sniper is firing those guns, but with the L96 he may be shooting but you can't even see a muzzle flash.

Explanation #2. Real suppressed weapons take the gas travelling down the barrel and channel them through a system of baffles, packing material, or fluids.  The escaping gas from the end of the silencer loses much if not all of the muzzle flash.  Recoil is also reduced now that there is reduced muzzle blast, and there is less chance for debris around the muzzle to be disturbed upon firing the weapon.

The real standard issue L96A1 military has a narrower barrel and a front sight.  Check it out
