Montieth's Summer Ale is like drinking fizzy, same goes for Montieth's Radler. Anyway the chances of Hurricane getting his hands on any Montieth's is pretty remote.

I say don't rush it. I was never a big beer drinker even after I turned 18, (legal drinking age here.) However I found that after a hard day at work or after a run or just at the end of a hot day I felt like something refreshing to drink. I didn't feel like water and everything else is too sweet so a beer is EXACTLY what I needed. Since then I just developed more of a taste for it.

I didn't go through the piss-water stage so in that way I'm a bit of a "beer-snob" but that's not a bad thing considering the crap that gets passed off as beer. You'll learn to appreciate the refreshing bitterness of beer after a while, I think you perhaps took a wrong turn by trying a Stout first. Even some long-time drinkers don't like Stout for the strong burnt coffee or toast tastes you get from it, (a dark beer is more of a winter beer to be drunk at room temperature by the way. So many people get this wrong and always insist that a beer should be cold.)
Lagers are generally easier for first time drinkers.

But hey, if beer's not your thing you could always pretend to be tough and swear by hard liquor. Why do spirit drinkers think they're so much tougher than beer drinkers by the way? Sure the alcohol content is higher but most spirit drinkers I know mix so much fruity shit with it one would have to drink three glasses to get one standard drink, (except my mate Alan who has the habit of making a gin and tonic with about one part gin to one part tonic.)

Ted's going to kill me here!

I find taste of Guinness quite unpleasant. However, I do like the taste of, say, Magner's Cider. It's a matter or trying and finding what you like! I drink little, because I only drink it for the taste (which is usually quite long lasting!)

However, perhaps Guinness is like smoking - the first time you try it, you hate it. But then you try it again and get the hang of it, then when you take it properly you are already addicted.

I've never liked beers, had them several times just can't stand the stuff.

What I do like is Scotch, sometimes Vodka and other hard spirits.

The best ones are high quality that don't need a mixer. They tend to last a lot longer too as you get to savour the taste rather than just gulping it down as you would a beer.

one day you might learn to like beer. maybe try a lager shandy and see how you go with that (half lager, half lemonade). Shandy's are much more refreshing than a normal beer and go down a charm!

I still think Beer tastes like crap (not so much these days, but when I first started drinking it). You should try Cider, it's like beer. Only tastier and more refreshing.

Usually it's got more alcohol in it too. It's just better in every way compared to beer.

I hate beer, shocker I know. I just don't like it.

It's not the taste of alcahol that everyone likes. It's being drunk.

Next time have some vodka and orange tango. Best drink ever.

not to mention you can't just go to the store and get some weed. Then again you can't get alcohol at the store at my age as well, but then it's also easier for someone's parents to buy alcohol and leave it out.

i dont know if food is devoured more when im drunk, but it sure goes down pretty quick.
no reeking of weed
no paranoia
definetly relaxed when drinking
drinking games
girls take clothes off when drunk
no need for visine
beer courage (aka courage to talk to chicks when you normally wouldnt)
the different flavors of beer/spirits
wont fail drug tests/fired from your job
bars=darts/billiards/music/girls

the real negatives of drinking are

-finding a responsible driver
-not over doing it (hangovers/getting addicted/memory loss)
-the cost of going out
-dealing with assholes (which reminds me, never be an angry drunk)

Beer takes awhile to get used to. For the longest time I was drinking that Smirnoff stuff, as well as mixed drinks. Now I primarily drink beer, and cannot stand that overly sweet stuff anymore. Your palate will change over time. For now, you'll probably have to go with Smirnoff Ice, or Mike's Hard lemonade to get used to it.

Also, Guinness is definitely an acquired taste, even as beer goes. I personally love it, but it's not for everyone.

And my god, how can people get addicted to that shit? It was Guinness Draught, from the bottle. I took a few sips and it seemed... ok. But then I took a bigger gulp and it tasted terrible. Burnt coffee with some ammonia, and possibly hydrochloric acid (explaining the burning sensation in my throat).

I don't get why teens are so eager to try that stuff. Maybe stuff like dessert and ice wine is easier on the throat, but you usually don't get that at parties. I think it's safe to say I'll never get addicted to alcohol, because it's nasty.
I love Guinness, but i don't like it bottled.

That's your problem

Guinness certainly is an acquired taste.  I get it once in awhile for a change of pace, but usually I get local microbrews in a variety of interesting flavors.
