I've got a pair with the zippers on the side ... luv them .... easy on, easy off ............... to bad I can't wear them in garrison

you know, with the new Army uniform regs, those boots youre talking about are regulation as long as they are tan.  Im pretty sure I think I know what boots youre talking about.


seen a lot of soldiers looking like they are wearing desert colored air jordans ever since we got these ACU's

thats the one.  cant be wrong if you see your battalion commander wearing them suckers right next to your SGM (who is a green beret) wearing em as well.  there are a few diffferent types but they look comfortable as shit.  I always liked the desert boots we were issued for RFI in 2004.  They issue out some new high speed ones now. 



jungles are no longer allowed to be worn.   I think next month is the last month anyone will be able to get away with wearing BDU's in the entire Army.  2011, our class A's will be phased out completely for our dress blues.

ouch on your class A being phased out ... that sucks, we still have our service alphas and I still wear mine


Marines had to turn over to digitals by June ( I think ) of '06


back in '00 we tested a few new styles of desert boots from Bates and Altama, they were almost a rich brown color ---- hurt like hell on my feet

yeah ... nothing looks sharper then being in a set of cammies, pressed and starched out with boots that are like mirrors on your feet

I actually like the dress blues better than the class a's.  its the original Army uniform.  only problem I have with it, is there is no place for a person like my to wear a loud, bright yellow 1ST CAV combat patch.

sunday mornings are meant for personal and professional recovery.  cant remember how many times I spent my saturday partying up and won austin.  get to the B's around 5 or 6 sunday morning.  knock out for a few hours and get busy with the mop and duster for the room and the cloth and finger for the boots.   sunday nights were saved for the uniform.  depending on how good a job I did sunday night, I wouldnt have to worry about doing anything else to my uniforms or boots for the rest of the week except take care of a few nicks and scuffs.

we got issued 5 sets in bootcamp and then from there, we had to maintain and/or buy more cammies and the same with the boots - 1 jungle and 1 cold weather boots are issued in bootcamp and from there we had to buy boots

we did get a yearly clothing allowence though but I spent 3 times as much on my uniforms



I kept 5 sets of cammies pressed and hung in my wall locker in case of room inspection ............ along with 4 sets of garrison cammies and 4 sets of field cammies

I think I went through 2-3 boots a year, while getting my Jungles re-soled about every 6-8 months

never had my boots resoled.  I was a lowly private most of my time at Hood so i really couldnt afford it.  Boot soles=Luxury, Beer+Club money =necessity.

I know what you mean about going through uniforms.  The Army issues you 4 bdus (at least when i joined, 2 winter, 2 summer) and 2 pairs of boots for your initial issue.  the little bit of money I got on my entry date anniversary wasnt enough to stretch for a year.
