I'm having extremely long load times on my friends PC when it comes to "Verifying Client Data." Sometimes the game drops from the server. And if I actually make it on it lags very badly for the first maybe 10 to 20 minutes. I've disabled all the programs running in the background, eliminated the idea that it might be his internet connection, tried reinstalling BF2, reinstalling the patch, and updating all my drivers, but to no avail. Anyone help me out?

His PC:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2
EVGA 256MB GeForce 7600GT GDDR3 PCI Express 16x
Corsair XMS2 1GB DDR2800 (PC2 6400)
WD Raptor HD 36GB 10,000 RPM SATA150
Abit KN9 Motherboard
Windows XP Pro

My PC:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2.4GHz Socket 939
EVGA 256MB GeForce 7800GT GDDR3 PCI Express 16x
Corsair 1GB DDR400 (PC3200)
WD Raptor HD 72GB 10,000 RPM SATA150
Abit AN8 Motherboard
Windows Vista Home Premium

I'd run memtest on your ram to eliminate that as the source of the problem first.

Hm, about the lag... Sounds like you got the common 7800GT/7900GT bug within BF2. What graphic options do you run?

Add another gig RAM, should help in every case.

The problem I'm having is with his PC, mine is fine. Mine flies faster than his but his is better. Whats the deal?

I don't think these problems are caused by low ram, I have 1 gb of ram and vista  and verifying takes me less than a minute and I hardly get any lag at the start of the round.

I dont think it have anything to do with ram at all as well. I mean my buddies ram is better than mine, his processor is better than mine and his mobo is better than mine and yet his loading times are twice as long.

In my experience adding at least 1 more Gig of RAM would help.

When I was running 1 gig (Pentium Duo Core @ 3ghz) it would take forever for a map to load then another MINUTE for it to verify.

Once I went to 3 gigs RAM the map loads quickly and the verify time dropped to about 10-15 seconds tops.

Plus now I always load into a map before most people.

Well that still doesn't make any sense because his rams better than mine, and his processor is better than mine. His computer is better than mine and his still takes longer to load.

Lovely, but if it's taking him that long to load and he's getting 20 mins lag it's not a lack of ram that's causing it, so maybe it'd be better to find the root of the problem and fix it before spending money on what could be an entirely useless upgrade.

"Verifying Client Data" has to do with HD interface. Seeing that he has a Raptor I dont see why there is an issue with this.

First Question - Is he running a Raid
Second Question - When he crashes on load, is it a specific server and is it an SF server
Third Question - Is his profile account an admin account on Vista

FYI its not the RAM causing slow load. Although more RAM will allow more chunks of data to be processed, RAM will not speed up your HD.

He's not running raid.
It's any server, it takes forever to verify client data. He doesn't have special forces. Sometimes after finally loading he'll get a Network Data Corruption Error.
Yes he's on an admin account on Vista.

It takes forever to "Verifying client data" and then it gives me some gay error. Please help!!!

Yeah on MY PC I'm running WinXP and it loads no problem. But on my buddies PC he has Windows Vista and his shit takes forever. Anyone know what's up?

Was starting to think this thread died...

Anyone else know what's up with this bullshit. I dont want to waste 80 bucks on fucking ram and it finally runs as good as it does on my other 500 dollar computer. This is bullshit.

I agree... there is a LOT of BAD information concerning the cause of long load times. Nobody seems to know what is causing it.
It isn't RAM or machine qualities.  It is something else.  I hope it gets figured out soon. I was loading a lot faster before I re-installed BF2 and XP.
Maybe it is to do with the order of patching? Have they missed something in the patching so that it is better to do them sequentially or something?
