I think this may be my first ever thread in over 2 years of being a member in this section.

I have just searched the word "Haditha" and saw numerous finds.  This may be an old thread and duly closed quickly, sorry if it is.

I have just watched the film as per the thread title.

The film was based on a true story they said, and until tonight I had never heard of this story.

If you have seen the film, please tell me: How True to life is it?  If its as true as it says it was I feel sickened, I already feel that but hope I will be told it was exaggerated and glamorised for film.

I know I can read various threads on this subject but perhaps by asking others its the quickest way of finding out.  How am I to know what reports I can believe?

Thank you and once again sorry if this is a previous discussed topic.

Haven't seen it, semi-tempted to see it.  The problem I'm facing is I don't really trust a foreign attempt to show US Marines.  A movie about this just seems like it would be way to Michael Moore-esque for my taste.

There is no way I would allow a film to influence me against any nation, in this case America, hence thats why I thought it best to ask here but I agree with above it left me feeling sick and angry, but thats the directors plan isn't it?

Is it "Made in America"?

Well, you are too thick, if you really believed I hate Americans, as in every Americans. I just simply hate the government, I hate the decisions.

I apologise, for the misunderstanding.

It's made in England, hence my suspicions (No offense intended to the English, read my earlier post in this thread).  I'll netflix it though.

What a pointless post, plus the mods frown upon 'postfixing'.

I saw the bit where the americans got bombed so one of the spazzed out and shot 5 iraqi civilians.

I think i remember something like this on the news a couple of years ago though.

That'll explain a lot of the "Angles" in it then, it didn't do the mericans any favours really.

Was extremely one sided IMO. Marines listening to heavy metal on a killing rampage. The back ground of the Insurgents who planted the IED which kicked the incident off had their back ground and reasons for carrying out the bombing explained in great detail and showed the remorse they had after it etc. While the killing rampage the marines went on was explained in a 5 second scene of the Squad leader blaming himself for his solider being killed.
The murderous squad leader also had strong anti war views too, wtf??

The incident its self however still stands as one of the darkest days in Marine core history, but we will never know what actually happened in the fog of war.

Channel 4 has some serious bias going on, the night before they showed that film they ran a film about British Soldiers and abuse in Basra, I don't know what their game is, but it's unfair on all the soldiers who are doing a good job, and it's unfair on the Insurgents who are doing such a bad job, yet being shown in a good light!

Although, I have to admit that the Haditha Massacre was seriously fucked up. Not talking about the film, but about everything, about how the Marines tried to cover it up.

The film also had an important message I think was kinda missed, notice how one of the insurgent sheik/ringleaders goes onto say how they now rule Haditha because of the actions of the Marines (how it angered many of the locals so much as to join the insurgency) - that was a key thing, you're not helping anyone by attacking the locals. Back then, things like that is what made the insurgency so big, and then the insurgents started attacking/bombing more civilians, and that's why today you have the Concerned Citizens thing and they've joined the coalition. That's what I think
