Dunno what LCD to buy, a 22" or a 24". I'm worried i might be too close to the monitor. My eyes are 50 cm away. Is that enough far away?

I'm deciding between these two:

22"

I'm using a 22" at work right now.  Works fine - two documents next to each other all day long without screwing with the window sizes.

$375 @ Sam's, bought about three weeks ago.

24".
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

hmm thats expensive. Is the LCD meant for graphic work? I can get that 22" Samsung for 230€ (303$).

I have that same 24" monitor and while it is kickass,  I'd probally go little smaller for faster repsonse.

Crysis on low lol.

So snipy it isn't too big? Cos my primary concern is, it would be too big. Maybe i'm not far enough away from my desk.

I use a 22", but then again I'm 2.5-3 feet away.

go with the 24".  you never know what you'll do later on... i bought a 19" a long time ago, when 15 was the norm.  now that 19" lcd is a pefectly good TV with my older PC.  would be much crappier with a 15".

No problem with sitting that close on a 24", you'd need to be far away on a 30", bt not a 24".

I'm usually about 50cm away and I've got no problems.

Definetly get the 24"!

I got my 22" for $280 Australian dollars?

But anyway, I sit about 2.5 A4 page lengths away from mine and it is fine.

Either way you wont regret it.

Well, it certainly is not small, but it is not overbearing either. I sit relatively close, probably subconsciously waiting to jump in

The specs on the 22" are misleading.  Yes it does 75 Hz but not at max resolution.  1680x1050 is max 60 Hz, I know because I have the same monitor.

Not sure if the 24" will really do 75 Hz at 1920x1200 but if it will go with it no matter what the reasonable increase in cost over the 22".

I just bought that very 22". It's more than big enough, anything larger would just be too much for as close as you sit imo. Great monitor too.

mine does 60 @ 1680x1050 as well.  i was a little disappointed with that.
