On this forum it seems he's disliked nearly as much as Hillary Clinton and is behind Barack and probably even the psycho Ron Paul in being most liked, yet I still like him. Before the campaigns got to the "Who isn't the furthest from center?" stage he seemed to be the most moderate candidate and most likely to work for compromises with those who oppose his ideas. I'm looking for someone to convince me how he is bad...or worse than the others at least.

I wanted him to win 8 years ago... but he got cancer..  Honestly, between obama and mccain, I wouldn't complain /rhyme.

Personally, I would refrain from voting for a guy who could die of old age before his term expired.

Not saying this should stop you voting for him if his policies are good, but keep age in mind. Howard got booted out because of old age (well, that's part of the reason).

If you were running for President, he wouldn't vote for you.

Age should only be a problem when senility has been proven, which it hasn't with McCain. Reagan got elected when he was 73--why should this be any different?

Why shouldn't you vote for McCain? He has that weird thing with his face, looks like he had a stroke. And he's old, too.

Voting on appearance ftw!

Can't think of any reason. His immigration policy while an Arizona senator has been for shit, but perhaps his policy will change when he's representing the interests of the entire country instead of just his state.

Seems a little too hawkish for my taste. While he spoke out against the planning of the Iraq war, he still approved of the war itself, which makes me question his judgment.

Also, he voted against the anti-torture bill. For a POW to vote against an anti-torture bill....I just don't know.

But when all is said and done, he's still pink roses and happy bears compared to Hillary

I think it was the specifics of the anti-torture bill that caused his vote.  He IS one of the most adamant opponents of torture (having experienced some pretty nasty torture himself).

Well,.. having a female, or even better, a young coloured president; would give a huge possitive signal to the world concerning US society, tollerance and respect. Apart from this being a great opportunity, it is also the only chance we'll have in a very long time. If the Democrats loose, they'll play for safe again next time, and throw in another wasp. Other reason's not to vote for McCain are: "not another aged wasp republican", Alzheimer and a probable severe deterioration of the relation between the US and Russia. Russia being an important "friend" as an intermediary, yet one with striking power, in dealing with "the badguys".

But yes, Obama seems to be a man of (political new age/brave new world) words and words only, Hillary has that laugh and a female president will probably make negotiations with some faction completely impossible, and both seem to be more interesting in throwing mud at their friends than providing concrete arguments and making use of the situation of the republicans' bad image (naughty Bush). McCain on the other hand seems (in the interviews, not in the tv-debates) a lot more intelligent as well as a lot more social than the average republican candidate. He also has both experience and spirit (Hillary and Obama possess only one of the two qualities) and whatever other war he'll keep the US in or gets the US in, he'll do so out of principals, stick with it, and finish a job he or somebody else starts or have already started. His attitude to his time as a PoW shows both his humanity as well as his persistance and determination,..

Just vote McCain!
