Fair enough. It's just a warning.wensleydale8 wrote:
Im now saying its legal im just saying i have downloaded 17GB of stuff without anything happening.
Therefore if I get caught I lose.
The UK started on this 2 years ago, on boxing day. On the radio, there was a selection of the biggest limewire downloaders and they were sent a letter through the post with the fine. It was either that or prison. I know a guy who got it on boxing day. Damn that was shit.

Does this affect all countries? For example I'm in Quebec, Canada and I heard that we get away with downloading music more then lets say in the US.
I downloaded <10gb of music in the last year and half, I should be ok right?
Right?

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Fuck P2P, torrents are the way to go.
Torrents are going out as well. Have you seen the lawsuits against them? Espcially against isohunt, they got raped by the authorities.PBAsydney wrote:

Torrents wont last out till the end of the year, this year the music and film industries are planning on raping all the sharing programs.
Sorry for reviving this topic, but limewire seems to work for me? I just downloaded some songs tbh.
Wuts the problem?

They have, sadly, been legalised. So no more downloading music and shit. The search only comes up as "audio" because they don't want people to be making specific searches for artists illegally.
Limewire tracks all users activities of illegal downloading and the British and US government have the power to see what that is.
Don't use it. Unless you want to get fined.
Thanks for pointing that out David, I don't feel like breaking the law right before I go study law.

Guys, you dont need limewire anymore. All you gotta do is use the Mozilla Youtube Downloader Add-on , then convert the flash to WMV then load the video up on Moviemaker then rip the music off the video. Thats what I do anyway...
Use Bearshare or Morpheus.
#rekt
Or you can just convert the .flv straight to an mp3/.wmaNed_Z wrote:

Thats warez and is Sooper illegal...
Says the guy who got 15GB worth of music/videos in the last 12 months...
If they didnt make it so fucking expensive to get music legally i would probably do it. Another problem is how illegal music is always a better quality than legal shit. That is why only rich fucks, deaf people, and Apple fantards buy off Itunes. Youre better off with a CD for the same price.

best if you know a great site(s) and have an RS account.
PM Me if you really want the sites Teddy.
I know I'm not the only one that uses them on BF2s.
No, don't.Mint Sauce wrote:

They are just different sharing programs to Limewire and eMule. Don't touch them. They are just as illegal in the UK as Limewire is.
Anyone stupid enough to use Limewire deserves to get fined.
I can't see how they can do anything much about torrents or IRC downloading. If you exclusively download torrents from members only sites, there is no practical way I can see that you could get caught.

definitely not off limewire. Torrents maybe
I agree if they didn't have high prices on software only to experience halfassed shit there would be a lot less people doing it.
True in Switzerland.ceslayer23 wrote:
I heard somewhere that it's alright if you just download the file. If you share the file with other people, then it's illegal. is this true?
However, I recommend you use anything BUT limewire. I haven't used it in 5 years now - not because it became legal, but simply because half the shit you download is either porn or spyware (couldn't find any movies - almost all of it is porn, it's ridiculous). Use uTorrent (and torrent sites) or Rapidshare for downloads - RS with a download manager can get you top notch speeds
edit:
I disagree - the torrent users have so far kept ahead of the music industry as well as ISP services. They start blocking sites, new sites open. They start blocking usage, torrent users encrypt.Zimmer wrote:
