I can't believe it took so long before someone finally mentioned this great album. This one practically defines live albums.

It contends with The Who's 1970 album Live at Leeds, which I strongly recommend.

I got hold of that Metallica S+M album last night and listened to a few tracks off cd2

I used to like some of their stuff 15 years ago or so.  I picked these tracks to listen to they were:

Wherever I may roam

Sandman

Nothing else matters

On the positive I can say I like the way the Orchestra make the music sound like a movie soundtrack, ie, James Bond or Indiana Jones, I like the way two of the songs sound and the way the crown interact.

My only gripe was the lyrics on Nothing else matters, I thought the singer (James Hetfield?) murdered the end of a lot of sentances by stringing out the last word just like I do in the shower.  Often putting to much emphesis on it.  Thats just a personal tatse I have with music.

Thanks to those who recommended it, far from my taste in music but I'd score it 7.5/10.

I wanted to find this thread to say a big Thanks for introducing me to the Metallca S+M album.  Theres only a few tracks off it I like but I liked them as a kid 15 years ago and love them now.  My kids think I'm a "Mosher" but they do appriciate my love for music, whatever it is.  I'm funny with food as well.  I will not accept "I don't like it" until I see thewm put it in their mouth and try it.

I bet you find at least one of my kids playing these songs.  I grew up with Reggae, Rock Muisc, Drum n Bass, Rap, Classical, Opera.

I take the above comments back as when first posted I hadn't listened to it properly where as now I really appricate the production thats gone into making the music they do.

Thanks again bf2s

Both of the Bouncing Souls' live albums:
Tie One On
Bouncing Souls Live

The second album is a 2 cd set, and a must for Bouncing souls fans.

Dropkick Murphys live on St. Patricks Day is damn good too.

Yeah I've got that on DVD, it's awesome, it's a shame the levels weren't quite right, (Grohl's vocals were too quiet during most songs.)

I know I always suggest these guys, but I do it for a reason so if you can find it, (which I doubt,) get the Shihad Live Album, (made in the brief period when they were called "Pacifier", so the album title is "Pacifier Live".) Jon Toogood's stage banter may be limited to "Fock Yeuh!"s and "I wonna see euvryone focking jumping!"s but the recording quality is great and the songs are taken from an aray of different gigs but kind of blended into each other, so you get their best song performances all on one CD.
