Get a megaphone, and yell for everyone to get out of the frame. Done.

Beer + drugs.  Soon everyone will be zombified, whether they like it or not.

And I take no responsibility or liability for any actions taken from the above joking suggestion, in case you actually do it and end up in court.

Watch PLANET TERROR.

That's how much blood and gore you should have in your usual zombie movies.

Well given most youtube movies, here what you do.

Get a bunch of random people, run around in front of the camera for 10 minutes screaming and laughing and making a fool of yourself, make sure the camera is low quality and/or extreamly shaky so you cant tell whats going on, then edit it together with windows movie maker terribly and add a soundtrack that doesnt fit whatsoever.

On a more serious note, avoid everything I just said.  Gore and avoiding the stereotypical zombie should add some value to it, as well as cueing the audio correctly and at a proper volume.  Audio is key to any sort of film, be it movie, tv or cartoon.  Having a tripod for shots where you don't need to move adds alot, nothing worse then a camera constantly shaking all over.

Ah my friend I believe I can help.
Firstly, read the Zombie Survival Guide or World War Z by Max Brooks, it will give you some ideas.
NOW.
Some home made blood. Just like Mum used to make. Blood blood glorious blood. This will be a staple of a zombie movie.

The best recipe for blood is....
Golden syrup and food colouring. Trust me.
Mix golden syrup and red and yellow food colouring to get your desired blood colour, feel free to prick your finger and compare it. Best of all, (especially in a zombie film,) it tastes great, so you can have great flows of blood coming from a zombie's mouth. Add more food colouring to get the consistancy you want.
The one thing about this fake blood is that it doesn't flow naturally. In the film industry they fix this by adding a photographic wetting agent. If you have some on hand then sure go for it, (do NOT put it in your mouth if you're doing this.) However experiment to find what works best, I'd suggest cooking oil or something along those lines.

Don't eat too much food colouring though, it's bad for you.

Also, try going to your local butchers and see if they can spare anything. This stuff tends to stink though so uh, don't keep it too long.

Scars, (to make your heros look heroic or you zombies look... um... scarred.)
This works better for disfigured characters or zombies because the scars are pretty prominant. Anyway what you do is get a length of sellotape and stick it to where you want the scar to be. Sponge the sellotape with water until it comes off, leaving the adhesive residue. With the skin as it is now you can stick it together to create a scar look. Add a bit of blood or makeup to make it look more fresh.

The only other thing you can use is rubber cement. Unfortunatly I don't have a recipe for this one and you'll have to buy it. If you do though you can experiment to make it look ghoulish. Most of the time it's just as simple as sticking it to you and drying it with a hairdryer to get an aged or diseased look.

You'll get some wicked looking zombies with these, if you want to go the extra mile you can try making a few prosthetic limbs.

Costumes should be easy. Just make 'em look zombie-ish.

As for getting people out of a crowded area - take the "28 Days Later" approach. Of course you won't be able to clear out central London, but getting up at dawn generally means there won't be too many people around. Pick your places to film, somewhere where people are not too common. If people do get in the way ask them if they want to be a zombie or a zombie victim in your film.

Have fun man!

What do we want?!
BRAINS!!
When do we want 'em?!
BRAINS!!

(I do want to be credited in this movie, a "Very Special Thanks To..." will suffice.)

Yeah, they must've had to get up early a lot. In one of the shots you can see someone, they're walking away from the camera and they're not in focus but you can tell it's some dopey prick who decided to go for an early morning stroll.
