Whenever I get into a vehicle that has countermeasures, (i.e. tank, helicopter) I will pop those countermeasures, be they flares or smoke, without touching anything, and I will continue to pop them until I hit escape, go to options, clear the countermeasures button and reassign it. Why is it happening, and how do I fix it?

- Wait, why did I just pop the smoke?
This has happened to me in the past. I think it's just another BF2 bug tbh.
Did you use Xfire lately?
Sometimes it just constantly acts like I'm pressing the X key after opening a Xfire window in game.

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
That would probably be it, because I almost constantly run Xfire.haffeysucks wrote:

Set your xfire in-game access key to something other than Scroll Lock + X. I have mine set to Scroll Lock + 7 because 7 isn't normally used in BF2.
Come to think of it, I'm going to change it to Scroll Lock + ` or something easier to reach.

xfire is the devil now
If that happens, press x a bunch of times. Thats how I fix it.

use 7+8 much much easier.
my xfire shortcut is cntrl + c in game but i'v never had it change my camera lol
Yup, its xfire. Which is why I changed X to Z. (and scroll lock to numpad * as I have scroll lock on a function )
But, having Z now makes me go prone all the time Gota remember to change it...

I'll have to try that. I've always minimized BF2 so i can minimize the xfire chat screen, which also works.MysteryJake wrote:

Just press X at the right moment (when it's reloaded, d0h) and everything will be just fine.
