Bet you thought this was going to be some cool BF2 related topic referring to new veichles or weapons.
WRONG!
No, it is myself breaking the news that I have a new computer to use! Yay!
Okay, first of all, problems with the old one.
- It could not play games. Solitair barely worked.
- It was put together incorrectly, making sure that the computer ran slower than it was meant to.
- The CD drive is very picky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dosn't. Sometimes it can write to writable CDs, sometimes it refuses to do so and only accepts re-writables, (and vice versa, depending on which type you currently had in your possession.)
- Sometimes is would go through a bout of 'freezes', where it would freeze randomly every five seconds for an undetermined amount of time.
- Sometimes it would freeze permenantly just because it felt like it, (Yes, that fucken thing had a personality.)
- Sometimes on startup, the screen would refuse to turn on, except when you pulled the plug connectiong it to the CPU, then it would come back on and tell you that there was no signal. When you plugged it back in, it went back to blank standby mode.
- Whenever I left it alone while it was downloading or installing or updating something, it would crap out, with an error message, or disconnect itself. If i stayed there the whole time while it was downloading/installing/updating it would work.
- When you typed, sometimes it would replace the leter you typed with something random and unexpected, for example, if I typed "Hello" sometimes it would real as "U\99o"
- That thing is fucken EVIL!
There are a few others I could think of if I racked my brains, but I'm not bothered.
The new computer.
Okay, well actually, it's not new, it's three years older than the hunk of crap I was using before, and also, it's not a computer as such. It's a laptop. It's a laptop my Dad bought off one of his work mates about a year and a half ago for $50. It's a Toshiba thing, Pentium 2, no graphics card, old, not very powerful...
However, it's brilliant.
- It dosn't freeze randomly.
- It can play Solitair! No kidding!
- I managed to hook up a really awesome sound system, and imported some MP3s and music videos from the old pile of crap. It has an awesome sound.
- It can play Worms 2. Awesome, I have a cool game on the computer! Woo!
- I managed to hook up the old computer's Jetstream fairly easially too, so it's not slow as Hell on the internet.
- It has Windows 98, which in my opinion is better than ME.
So this is it. It's a messy setup, but it works better than the old piece of rotton shit, (The computer in the background - the white and purple monster - is the old machine.)
I'll try to post a video of me disposing of the crap-monster, that it, if I can persuede the Deer Hunters Association to let me use their range and set it up there.
N.B: No, I can't play BF2 on it.
