You seem like a smart guy, and the SAT wasn't that bad.

my advice: don't worry about it, and don't waste weeks of your time studying for it either, prep courses don't help at all.

Really, it's not that bad. It is a long time but the questions aren't very difficult.

I won't say that prep courses don't help because I felt the ones that I took did help a little, but I will say that they will only take you to a certain level. You can teach yourself far more than any prep course can IMO.

When you really look at the questions on the SAT, you'll find they really aren't that bad, it's probably just the time limit that pressures people. So go into the test somewhat relaxed, and you should be fine. Just don't get too relaxed and overlook things.

What the hell happened to SAT scoring?  It used to be out of 1600.

They added a writing section, which is just an essay + lots of grammar.

I wasn't planning on it. The PSAT was easy, I'm just envisioning slightly harder questions. Even if I do bad, which I'm thinking won't happen, the fact that I can take it again removes a large amount of the stress from taking it.

seriously, they're no harder.  there's just more of 'em.

the hardest one I remember was a logarithmic function in the math section.

So precalc is the highest math?

Do they have any of those "find the vertex" problems for quadratic equations. I really want to use calculus to cheat it.

Thanks for the advice and information, also. It does help.

I don't think so, I went in all ready for calculus and thermochemistry, and i got mostly algebra and graph analysis...

I'd be wary of the reading comprehension more, some of the questions are worded really poorly.

This... some of the things that tripped me up were the slightly weird wording of those critical reading questions.

I was kept down in 2nd grade due to a shitty teacher. My English score is shit, I failed Geometry so I'm doing it again this year. So no Algebra 2 knowledge according to our curriculum. I just need to improve mah grammarz lulz.

I forgot to sign up for it this year - which means next year

i imagine my wasted year in Algebra II will hurt me though, because i honstly didn't learn much there...
This girl in my math class who does about as well as i do got like 2200-something on it, so i figure i'll probably get somewhere in that neighborhood assuming the analyzing graphs stuff doesn't kill me...

That's NOTHING!
I have to take 2 5 hour AP tests, back to back, at the end of the school year.  That's 10 hours without a break!

I have to take it this year

How does the scoring work again?  3 sections all worth 800 points, then add up the 3, right?

If thats so I got 1500 on this years PSAT

haha you have to take Sat tomorrow!
I took it in january and i got a 2160 .I was happy about getting an 800 on the writing section, but I'm just wondering, are 800's in that section pretty common? I can't imagine aceing one section and doing normal on the other ones. And yeah, the critical reading section is what tripped me up most too.

idk dude, I did best on the English sections (crit and writing) on the PSAT.
