Oh, well that makes sense. The first two must have been the good one and bad one... I think it was 2 and 5... and the third was also a 5 I think...Smithereener wrote:
Really? I was under the impression that you recieved two grades from two graders from 1-6. The only time I thought you got a third grader is when the difference between the two scores was greater than one.djphetal wrote:
They give you 3 grades on your essay... two were really high, one was really low. I suspect that third grader didn't like my personal opinion.
Are you planning on taking the ACT? A few of my friends took that instead of the SAT since it tests on science instead of writing I believe.HurricaИe wrote:
Pretty much everyone takes the SAT or the ACT, so it can't be that hard when I think about it. It IS standardized.
Nah, I'm doing the SAT, SAT II, and some APs.Smithereener wrote:

Wow, I'm an epic failure. I googled PSAT and clicked on a link with practice questions. I spent 20 minutes doing a bunch of ridiculous math questions for no apparent reason. Do I have problems?
What about cosec, sec and cot?HurricaИe wrote:

On the Math I mostly lost points on the "hard" questions. We hadn't learned much in Geometry when we took it. Now we know some basic trig stuff (cosine, sine, tangent etc) so I'll probably do better.
Honestly, I don't know how hard it'll be. According to the college board, I did better than 93% of Juniors in America with my score.
@M5 yeah I can tell it'll be a bitchy process, especially cause I'm an immigrant. If I don't get my permanent residence by the time I start applying (yes I'm legal, just under a visa ) then colleges put me in the international applicants pool which is supposed to be extremely competitive -_-
we learned that and more in year7
My school has three math tracks
"Slow" (this is what I'm in cause I didn't give a shit in middle school, so they put me here and now I pwn every test)
Algebra I
Algebra II
Geometry
Advanced Mathematics
"Normal"
Algebra II
Geometry
Advanced Mathematics
Pre-Calc or Statistics or Advanced Topics
"WTF"
Mathematics I
Mathematics II
Mathematics III or Pre-Calculus
Calculus
or the inverses? sin-1 etc (otherwise written arcsine).
How can 2 of the 3 'tracks' not do calculus? Even the lowest level of maths had basic differentiation and integration.
Here's some of similar questions to what I was asked in my year 12 exams.
1. solve for x: x = (x / 3) +1
2. f(x) = (x-1) / (x2 + x - 2)
a) Simplify fully.
b) What is the domain of f(x)
3. Differentiate (1 - 3x)4
4. Differentiate 2x e3x
5. Differentiate ln (cos x)
6. Integrate Sqrt x dx
7. f(x) = x3 - 12x
a) show F(x) is an odd function
b) find the coordinates of the stationary points on y = f(x) and determine their nature
c) Find the total area enclosed by y = f(x) and the x-axis
8. A particle is moving in a straight line according to the formula x = t2 - 4t + 5, where t is the time in seconds, and x is the displacement from the origin O in metres. Find:
a) The initial displacement of the particle.
b) The time when the particle is stationary
c) The total distance the particle travelled in the first 3 seconds.
9. When a bank account is selected at random the probability that the account balance begins with the digit n is given by.
P(n) = log10[(n +1) / n], where 1 <= n <= 9.
a) Find the probability that the balance on a particular bank account starts with the digit 2. (correct to 2 dec places)
b) Use the logarithmic laws to show the sum of the probabilities for each digit is 1
10. y = 3 sin 4x
a) What is the period.
b) What is the amplitude.
Well, there's heaps more. And i didn't even look at the 'hard' paper. So go!
No u.
"How can 2 of the 3 'tracks' not do calculus? Even the lowest level of maths had basic differentiation and integration."
The hell do I know most colleges in the US teach calc or pre-calc as a Freshman course.

4. 2e3x+6xe3x
5. 1/(cosx)
6. (2/3)x3/2
7-10. Too lazy. I can do them.

(you may have been given 2 half marks if the teacher felt nice).
SAT = simple business
1370 by original scoring, 2070 by new scoring.
Not bad, considering I had ripped open my knee and the left side of my face two days earlier.

Nice, but why bother, very few colleges take the SAT?cowami wrote:

I was under the impression that fewer colleges took the ACT, although that is changing now.S.Lythberg wrote:

I live in the Midwest pal, its all about the ACT here, I only took the SAT for scholarships.nukchebi0 wrote:

That was my point. The Midwest stresses the ACT more than the two coasts.S.Lythberg wrote:

Took it in 7th grade, got a 1920...not really worried about it anymore
It's not bad, just annoying
PSAT was madd easy

PSAT means nothing. I know someone who did really really well on the PSAT 220 i think, and got like 1650 the first time they took the SAT...
