maybe you can use it to snap the disk when you play it
maybe it doubles as a mega heat sink when you have to OC to play.

Also if you are in x64 punkbuster for multiplayer won't work (you'll get server authentication failed). You need to enable PB in x86 mode only. Crysis comes with both x64 and x86 exe's so if your on vista x64 or (shudder) XP x64 you can still launch the game in 32 bit mode.
For multiplayer join an empty server and make sure you build your own custom load-outs. The only good maps imho are shore and plantation. Crysis MP was a huge disappointment, the beta was great fun, but the "polished" MP is not very polished, its actually only fun to snipe and to make IED's with claymores and c4.
Also there is nothing special about the special edition. I think you are supposed to get a tin box, but you actually get a plastic box with tinfoil laminate, and you get to download some extra "art" and you get access to an extra vehicle in game (APC in water, but it sucks and you die quickly) but to get access you have to find this website where you punch in your key.
Tips would be don't expect to run on killer settings, and the ice level lags like a bitch. Update your vid drivers to the beta (Nvidia) if you are running SLI. Overclocking may or may not be stable with crysis on your machine. It is stable for me in XP but not in Vista. Highly recommend overclocking if you can get away with it. Rivatuner works well, plus you can turn on hardware monitoring to see how much video ram is being used so you can adjust your sets to prevent thrashing.
Tip: turn on onscreen objectives or whatever in the options, you can toggle it with the "O" key. You wan't them on all the time else you'll struggle in multiplayer.
Tip: close quarters multiplayer combat is all about spray and pray sadly, but zooming into irons will give you a huge advantage. Always use irons in crysis unless its extremely in your face combat. People will throw A LOT of grenades so always back off from fresh kills and stuff, there is always grenades waiting. Don't use sprint mode unless you know you are safe. It takes half a clip to a full clip to kill people in the spray and pray wars and it really sucks compared to BF2, it is not very skill oriented. I prefer sniping and blowing shit up becuase it is more fun and not so random. If you are on a bad team and capped down to one bunker, they will stand outside the doors and just hurl grenades in and camp the doorways with full autos. All I can say is that the buy system sucks, it is way to slow and you will get spawn raped trying to buy your kit even if you have loadouts already made. Deploying claymores and mines is so fucking slow that by the time you buy some to run out and deploy them, the fuckers are already driving up from the nearest flag even if you just killed them. The multiplayer can be extremely aggrovating, but once you get a handle on survival you can go 30-1 and shit like that by sniping, tanking, IED + mines, using radar scanner etc. If you constantly charge flags alone you can go like 3:1 not 10:1 if you are good, eventually you have to reload and people have so much armor that you will get raped even by shitty smgs.
O ya and I forgot, don't use cloak, you can see it from across the damn map if you have a good video card, and if you have an X-FI card you can hear the cloak mode up to 20m away which is really far, you hear the hiss, it is like CS, I can pinpoint idiots in cloak mode through headphones just like footsteps in CS. Strength mode is only good for punching people, do not snipe long range in strength mode as I can easily see you across the map with my sniper rifle. Only snap into strength mode for the shot then right back out. Don't shoot from cloak mode either as you will loose your entire energy reserve, drop the cloak first, but I highly recommend against using it at all unless your playing single player. Always buy the radar scanner unless you are dirt poor. The AK does more damage than the scar and it is cheaper to buy but holds less rounds for spray and pray, but I still suggest you use it. Do not use laser attachments as you are visible from miles away, the red laser sticks out so obviously and new players don't realize it. The AA car blows up if you are Korean when you shoot the turret but not the missles (sad lol). So Korea gets no AA basically. The US tank is stronger than the korean tank too. US usually looses though as korea has the advantage of early flag capping on most maps. Pyro ammo lags out people you shoot with it but it only does 3dmg extra per hit so its not useful for the damage but it is useful for making people lag (it is terrible how much those little fire balls make everyone lag lol). I never buy it though because it is expensive. 2 claymores are lethal but pair one claymore and one c4 behind it for max lulz.

bad move yo
Why?
Crysis is a brilliant single-player experience.
Enjoy playing your special edition .
Ignore the haters... they'll stop crying one day, when they finally upgrade from their AMD 3500+'s and DDR RAM.

Thanks for quick reply guys!
So i should do the things that are stickied? Both stickies?
Did i understood right? You get to buy things in MP?
I will use XP 32bit
I have X-fi- are there any ultra high settings available for this card like in bf2?
I also have an E8400, 2GB of memory and a 8800GT 512. What settings should i use? I never overclocked before...
Once again thanks for extensive feedback Zenmaster, i appreciate that.

Ok first what you wanna do is, patch the game to 1.1 or w/e, then go to this link http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=92186, then id probably pick the high config, follow instructions to install so on so forth..Sup wrote:

When thats in the right place, open it up, then change the value for Objects_view_distance_xy or somthing, from 4080 to 2040, (only for mp, if its above 2040 pb kicks you), then you should be ready to go. And yes, you do buy guns, adons, and vehicles, with 'prestiege' which you gain from making kills, capturing points, so on so forth. Got any more questions, add me to xfire.
Also, when youve installed it, open up your cd in explorer, the open tools, then open up a thing called Crysis_Code.exe, enter in your cd code again, sometimes in mp it says your code is invalid, this is the way to fix that.

Pff. I have a rig like that and I love it!Uzique wrote:

It pwns even at 20fps.
Probably for sp, but seeing how buggy, and annoying pb and mp is, i don't think it would work..Sup wrote:
Thanks bakina.
Another question: is it possible to play the game without the disk. I have Dameon tools installed and that's how i played BF2.
PB sucks... it's just an annoying thing you have to put up with - that hackers seem to effortlessly code around.

Crysis is my fav. game at the moment.
I hate multiplayer anything at the moment. So Crysis is just the right fit for me - at this time. I've tweaked it (the Config.s, T.O.D.s, map elements in the Sandbox Editor, etc) to an almost Cinematic experience.

Is it possible to get tweaked files instead of tweaking it yourself?topal63 wrote:

Yeah, there are config.s (autoexec.cfg and/or system.cfg files available) done by other people see xGj's config thread. But, altered map levels with T.O.D. tweaked settings are hard to find. "Natural Mod" is one but it's HDR mods and color filters leave it to gray - which is not vibrant enough for me, color-wise & HDR-lighting wise. Also, I've added an option not available in the standard/retail install. All levels have active Global Depth of Field (DoF). It is separate from the Iron sight/zoom DoF..Sup wrote:

Using someones config. file can tweak the DX9 setup to visually be comparable to DX10 settings.
O yeah once you have got all this together, be sure to post some screenies here http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=89231&p=1
