BF2S Forums How Long Does BF2 Have?

no more than a year. good people that made this game fun left eons ago.   Bf2142 could have got me to play BF all over again with soo much excitement, but that was a disapppointment.


more than likely, im not playing Bf3. i have move on to other goodies. if EA and those swedish morons DICE make bf3, then its a repeat of 2142

There will probably be a dip when EA/dice pull the plug on tracking BF2's stats, but there will always be players and nothing - not even BF3 - will change that.

I'm sick of this shit. BF2142 DOES NOT FAIL. It's about unpopular futuristic warfare, not bad game itself. 2142 incorporates a lot of interesting ideas\inventions in maps\weapons\vehicles which BF2 havent - such as placeble squad spawn points, assault lines game mod, titan game mod, customizeble assault rifle attachements, manpads, guided\ungaided AT weapons, various types of equipment like defusers, mine baits, emp grenades etc., and assimetric balancing vehicles, which is also very good.

I think this is the 1st thread asking this where 1/2 the people don't say "It's dead already" or it "sucks".  Many will play BF2 because they don't have a machine to run nerwer games.  I love the graphics weapons and maps of COD4 but there is lalmost zero teamwork.  No sqauds...ect.
I thought before COD4 was released BF2's time was almost up.  Now the end seems very far away.

well atleast with Battlefield series we have tanks, jets, helis, battlewalkers, apcs and so on. And we have squads - teamwork. I'd give a chance for CoD4 (even while it havent vehicles and large maps) but it doesnt even feature squads - just an advanced CSS with customizeble weapons, thats all.

i like cod4. don´t get me wrong. but it´s true!
cod is for the quick rounds, getting some frags, playing a match - but i won´t play it for a whole night with friends on ts, like i do it in bf2. bf2 still has more.

I will be optimistic and say a year. However, the game will never "die" as long as the community comes out with mods.

What will "die" is the stat tracker. That depends on the number of times these twits hack the leader board just for the fun of it. At some point, the stat tracking for the core game may come to and end.  I personally think the stats made the game interesting. I got a sense of accomplishment for time otherwise wasted.

So if you think the stats are worthless, that may be the final end to the game. Things disappear when no one watches or cares any longer.

I hope someone will keep a server or two running!

i have played bf2 for 18.5 months. i have seen it all, did it all. i have give alot to this game since it came out on 6/2005.

from what i am hearing, the hardcore people that play this game from the beginning went on to other MP games. i mean look at Bushviper, ECR.RC, and blazinuk, they are not in the top 10 anymore.

i think bf2 is an awsome game regardless of its six million bugs.

Once they close the stats server, alot of interest will be lost.  I'd say EA shuts the stats down, by PURE COINCIDENCE, right when BF3 comes out.  That way, EA can get another 50$ to fill the need for people's stats fix.

But still,  BF2 is just a fun game, and while I am a stats whore, I wouldn't play it if the game wasn't fun anyway.  So, with kickass mods, and the History of BF2 being an epic game, it will never die.

Hell, every so often I dust off my Age of Empires 1 disc and fuck around with it. 

Basically, a good game never dies.
