i figured. i read this article with great disbelief, but its not the only place i've seen rumors like this. but i always wondered why someone who trains for years on a weapon system would just ditch if for something else as soon as they can. that just doesn't seem realistic.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

I think the delay in changing the std assault rifle is because NATO is still figuring what they have as a std caliber ammunition, i know the Norwegian forces have been testing the Famas and the Scar to replace the AG3 7,62mm we have now (similar to the G3 from BF2)
The started speaking of a new assault rifle when i was in boot camp back in 91 and haven't come any closer yet

Depends on where they were operating. They were originally Treasury, and then were Transportation, but operational control for many functions was transferred to the DOD.... vietnam, persian gulf, etc.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

They can also be seconded to the DOJ for drug interdiction, but op control still comes from the DOD.
Part of their budget comes from DOD, and part from DHS. The important distinction is that they're exempt from Posse Comatitus.
Confused yet?
but all of it theater specific. Are you saying that different branches of the government foot the bill for their day to day non wartime activities, news to me.blisteringsilence wrote:
