it's an power-hungry, elitist cult with a huge financial interest. More like power-lobbying on a spiritual base. And the pseudo-religious science fiction crap about xenu is so absurd it's laughable.

And as far as their views go, they're truly undemocratic and criminal. Google "Operation Snow White" and you'll get an idea.

In germany, they have been under constant supervision by federal authorites since 1997, since the courts believe that Scientology may present a threat to the democratic values. Because of that, Scientology is not reckognized as a religion in germany.

as far as I am concerned, they can go die in a fire.
Same can be said for Islam. They want power and will do anything to attain it. Even killing their critics. Van Gogh, Danish Cartoonists, etc etc.
The thing is i dont understand why some people here are so quick to bash me for saying this yet they dont even look at the similarities of the situations. Why because ones older? And we saw how the other one came about and what their prophet really was?

Now lets imagine this. That Muhammmed and L.Ron traded places.

Scientology came about in the late 6th early 7th century and was in our times an older more well established religion. And Islam only began 50 years ago. We know what Muhammed looked like and we know the content of his character, We know that he really had an 8 year old wife, And we know what the original versus were before abjucation. The whole situation would be alot different. Because we'd say Anon protesting Islam as a violent religion.  In this alternate timeline people wouldn't be so quick to criticize scientology but not for Islam. I.e. L.ron cartoons, Scientology terrorism to a new level. Etc etc But not me. I see people for what they are. No matter how blasphemous it sounds.

Muhammed = Warlord

L.Ron = Greedy

Jesus = Hippie(But in a good way)

Abraham = Pissed off

John Smith = Delusional

Buddha = Tired of violence

Founder of Hinduism = Strangely obsessed

Prove me wrong.

EDIT: I dont have a problem with anyones belief's as long as they dont piss me off.

Tom Cruise is bankrolling his new film, Valkyrie, which is tremendously interesting to history majors such as me, but proceeds will profit Scientology. Let's just say I will be "sharing" this movie with "someone else" who "owns" it.

I absolutely despise this cult. I came close to canceling some plans on the tenth to protest at the local 'church'.

Tell me the distinction between a cult and religion please.  At what point does a cult become a religion?  Is there a certain threshold to pass?

Very funny episode!

I'm not a Scientologist, and no not agree with the reviews. I'll regard any person's views as 'plausible' if they can have the evidence to support it.

I think both words have similar meanings but different connotations.  Both are a congregation believing in the same things.  Cults have a negative connotation and Religions a positive one.  For instance a Religion is a set of beliefs to guide people respected by most people and cults are often associated to extremist groups and rituals.

now on topic:
i think scientology seems a bit rotten... look at that man Tom Cruise... jumping aroound asking every of his friends to join that cult. and if they dont he stops talkin to them... a bit like Jehavos witnesses...

So basically calling them a cult is demeaning the belief/believers?

I don't agree with that rationale.

all religions start out as cults. Id say its just the amount of followers. whats considered acceptable in the standards of contemporary society depending on region and history.

Technically it is.  If you call a rock band a cult it's a compliment, if you call a Religion a cult you are in some way demeaning it.

Anyway, who didn't see this thread going this way?

I agree with anonymous totally, well thier mainstream agenda anyway.

But, I am sure it's true that a vast number of Scis are good people, and the leaders are the ones that are fucking evil.

It would be nice to have a Scientologist on here, to tlak about this.  But, I think he or she would get flamed to death before we got anywhere.

If there IS a Scientologist on here, I doubt they'll speak up.

Unless, ThaReaper truelly is.  Sarcasm is hard to see in text only sometimes.

Are you asking me?

Well, assuming so, I did not say anything about speaking up in online forums in general.  What I am saying is, someone, who is a member of the BF2s Forums, may be reluctant to say if they are really a scientologist, considering they may like this community, and don't want to be osterized because of being a scientologist.

Thats where you are wrong. How can Scientology be a religion when religion rejects science? The same as science is against religion.

A real religion would run a soup kitchen that helps out poor people in need of food and does not charge them a dime. Scientology charges 100,000 USD a year (on average) to help [read placate] people who have money and aren't gay.

See the difference?

Good point...  but your definition of "real" is more aptly described as "moral."  Most organized religion is far from moral.  Granted, I'm not saying all religion is bad.
