Lag at beginning of EVERY new round.

OK,try disabling punk buster in the multiplayer window, try a server, just be careful its not a "naughty" server, see if this has an effect. You may need to alt/tab out and go to task manager to stop the punkbstrA/B.exe processes just to be sure.

If that fails...What settings are you using? try setting all to low (eww ) see if that works in multiplayer with the lag at the start, if it doesn't lag, increase etc.

If you close PB service it will boot you out the server, and ive tried my settings on Low, Medium, High before, i have them on high, even when the lag is happening it doesnt drop below 150fps...

Only if you play on a PBserver....disable it to see if its PB or not....just join an unranked server.

Punkbuster!

Ok, so after I disabled Punkbuster and joined the One non pb server I discoverd the lag issue does not occur.

I went into my Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\pb folder and Deleted all of the files from that folder.

Then I ran Pbsetup.exe and it indicated I had no version of Pb installed, and would update to the lates version.

After updating I seem to have NO MORE LAG!

Holding my final judgement for later, but Try it. This seems to fix the problem.

Open task manager, see what's running.
Start the game and join a server.
Have another look at task manager and see what's new in the list.

After testing last night, and again this morning I am going to say it is Fixed. I joined multiple different servers, and was unable to duplicate the problem since this proceedure. I hope it works for you as well.

Sigh. I give up on the help forums. If you read through my original post (sound familiar?) i said update PB, which any search ( the big button near the top of the page) you would have found that includes removing the PB folder in the BF2 folder.

I done what you done Joe, and it has done something... it doesnt last as long as before but its somewhere within 1-2 minute then stops, also it isnt as bad either...

If you use the G15 kaeyboard with BF2 apps, try a different keyboard and uninstall any G15 apps you have. I think it may be due to G15 apps getting server and stat info. Just a thought

Punkbuster has released yet another update. It appears to fix the issue.

Delete all files from the PB folder (Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\pb)
Run PBSetup and download the latest version.

I got my G15 a few weeks after this pish started happening.

I also had this kind of 'LAG'. 1sec smooth 0.5sec freeze. I deleted all PB stuff and reinstalled PB. LAG disappered. F*cking PB... ok, but it keeps cheaters away.
