Having been a Bf1942 player for a while I decided time for a change. So I bought my copy for Bf2 which came with the SF pack read the computer spec requierments and upgraded my computer as per. I have put a 1.8Ghz CPU inplace of the 1.5, 1G of RAM and a new graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256MB AGP the rest of the computer is bog standard but it all works. I loaded Bf2 1st Disk on the system no problems had a quick play on the single game and loaded the multiplayer option which had access to 40 servers and had a shot at a game online with no problems. The next step was the patching I downloaded the 1.41 patch loaded it to the system and this is where it has all gone wrong it loads the splash screen then stops and I get the:-
'BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience'.
The Error report is Faulting application bf2.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module:~df394b.tmp, version 0.0.0.0, fault address0x00088c9c.
I have wiped my HD as I was advised that due to the upgrades it may be conflicting the system so all that I have on my system now is, Win XP home, AVAST, Spy Bot, BF2 disk 1 which worked fine without the patch again and as soon as patch went on the above fault occured again.
Anyone have any ideas before I take my computer out to my back yard and give it some slap bang and a 14lb sledge.
