I'd be surprised if a thread like this hasn't already been posted, but I couldn't find one by searching.

So, simple question: in your opinion, what is the best animal in the world? Give us a reason, and pictures if you feel so inclined.

My nomination for the best animal in the whole world: Gorilla

Just look at it. Take a few minutes, because it should take at least that long to pay proper respect. The gorilla is by far the most badass animal on the entire planet. And that is why I think it's the best animal in the world.

A gorilla would crush any animal in this thread, except for maybe the tiger and shark. But tigers don't look quite as awesome, and neither do sharks, unless they are the hammerhead kind.
