My Creative Zen 30 gig MP3 player has been broken for about 5 months, and after waiting a month at a time to get a reply to me emails I sent off my MP3 which for returned after 2 months with the same fault.

I want to destroy it, but in the way it looks like it... just stopped working.

I heard tumbledrying it would do this?

Damn, at first I thought it would be destroying for fun, and causing as much destruction as possible.

Maybe you could possibly de-magnetize it? You'd need a good magnet for that, and you might not even be able to get away with it; check the warranty or return policy.

Remove battery
Take cables
Attach to where the battery would go
Enjoy the fireworks.

Seriously, poke something into the headphone jack, so that the little connectors become bent and won't work.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

See what the warranty entails and just find something on the list of covered situations and do that.

You should find a hurricane, flood, earthquake, or tornado and let it get torn apart. Then tell them you don't believe in god, and rather, it was an act of science and nature. Sue them if they refuse. You could set a huge precedent

My exact same mp3 broke the exact same way.  I gave it to my friends.  It got run over by a lorry.

Then the battery was dissected to create an alternate form of heating and stink out our Common Room at school.

Emailed them about 20 times and they want me to send the MP3 back to them. If I email them now asking what the warranty does cover then it turns up just like that won't they catch on?
