I came home from some carnival party, a little bit to drunk, and was watching tv to get to sleep anyways and
i saw that on a german latenight tv news magazin and this reminds me to this topic:
British policemen have to learn german, because there german police dogs doesn't understand english.
Background: The police of derbyshire (maybe I'm wrong on this) couldn't get hold of enought britsh police dog they bought full trained german shepherd ( for 2700 € each).
And these dog only listen to german orders so the policemen have to learn this commands, because english commands where totally ignored by the dogs.
So germany is not only one of the best developer of military equipment (G 36; Leopard 2 ....) we are also teaching british policemen our language by selling them our dogs.
Just a joke, no offence to anyone.
And to add another point of view to the hole WW2 discusion going on here,
there wouldn`t be a sputnik on 4.Oct 1957 and there also wouldn't be a apollo 11 on moon at the 20. juli 1969 without german engineering.
I'm sorry about speeling mistakes or grammar failure, i'm just to drunk to do it right.

well Germans did kick some ass in WW2, kind of in a bad way, though
The basics are ok, its the grammar and so on that gets hard.Roger Lesboules wrote:

Thanks for your opinions, it was very funny.
I don't know many other countries, but I think every people has prejudices about others.
And that starts on local area between counties and ends up at nation level.
Lets see some of my prejudices:
US: Fat, low on geography ("Europe? Is that in France?"), tend to feel superior in everything, Not thinking for themselves but what the leaders think
FR: "How cares about other languages, apprenez francais"
IT: Tiny guys on scooters, chasing every skirt
NL: ... Don't know, cool language though
So, do you see yourself in there? If yes, i am very sorry for you.
If not, ask yourself, which of your impressions might be wrong.
Going into WW-argumentations doesn't lead to anything.
Every country's history has it's black years/decades ...
Btw: I saw some documentations about germans in the US lately.
They stated, that most of german culture got americanized because of WW2 (what I understand, must have been hard for americans with german origin).
And whats left is the best seller in many other countries too: The Bavarian culture. But Germany is not only Oktoberfest
At last:
Total view of USA
Total view of England
Total view of Germany
Better is this Germany and their Autobahn.
My 2 (euro)cents

I'm not really a fan of German beer. Are there any that you would recommend? Because on the few occasions I drank German beer I didn't like it.HellHead wrote:

wow! so much ignorance. don't get your knowledge about ww2 (and history in general) from tv or the internet. go to a library and read a decent book about it.

And german beer is really a matter of taste, we have so many beers and brewing styles, it is hard to recommend one or two.

So I think there is a beer for everyone, but there's no accounting for tastes.
