Joining squads

Noobie question here so please don't all shoot me.

When I'm playing BF2 and don't join a squad straight away, I find that I'm not able to join or even create a squad after a few minutes.

The squads I'm trying to join are unlocked squads and not full so thats not the issue. Basically if I don't join a squad at the beginning of a round I can't join for the whole game.

same thing happens if I leave a squad mid round. I can't rejoin any squad. - clicking on the join button just does nothing. Can't even "create" a squad either.

Annoying when you see others joining and creating later on.

What am I doing wrong.

sometimes there is a squad bug...happens to me every so often. hope that helps.

You have to do it when you're alive. Annoying, but that's the way.

Yeah this is annoying, there is a server-side bug that happens every once in a while that causes problems with squadding up. Occasionally you will find that nobody can make a squad and that your team cant even have a commander.

You have to be alive to leave and join a new squad. If you are dead when you try to join a new squad it won;t let you. You have to respawn then you can join the squad. Next time you die, you can respawn on leader.
