BIS has released two new screens of the upcoming military simulation Armed Assault, the spiritual successor to the mighty Operation Flashpoint.

The 1st is of a UH 60 flying over a town area with a Meditterean/Arabic flavour, while the 2nd screen is of a T-72 tank in beautiful specular mapping!

Looking good BIS, keep them coming!
The visuals are certainly a welcome break from Battlefield 2, a gritty darker combat zone is just what's needed for a war. I'm smearing on the war paint already

looks kind off low quality (SimCity buildings and trees IMO),, I will stick with BF2.

Bah. Flashpoint isn't about graphics and physics. It's about the atmosphear. Is stunning. It's amazing. Trust me

LOL - one of the greatest FPS of all time no less
the young 'uns don't know their history

As shifty quite rightly pointed out, Operation Flashpoint and by extension Armed Assault has never been about slick presentation - its been about amazing gameplay and military realism you can shake a stick at, immersion in a frighteningly real war and above all massive maps (100km^2 in Armed Assault with no loading points)

All you "Challenger 2 ownzz or not" people must check this game out.

A nice article. Read it so you people can get the hang of it

And after you read it.. Here comes the amazing part. It's actually fun. You probably thought that all this realism crap would make the game boring and impossible. Believe me it is not. Each time you close it down you'll get this feeling in you stomach: OMG, i kill somebody.

Isn't it with Operation Flashpoint that when you are getting shot in the legs you will have to crawl all the way through the map?

Well yes, just like in real life - the key is not to get shot! In reality you get hit once and you are out of combat for at least a few days, there's no bunnyhopping to safety

But that is what makes Operation Flashpoint great - killing one enemy soldier is enough to win a battle, using cover is essential, making sure you are never in a position where you will die if a russian tank suddenly appears on the road
Think, Hide, Survive - that's what real war is about

Some good points made there guys, believe me guys this is going to be the ultimate war simulation, its the closest you will get to going into battle without joining the forces.

And $kelet0r your new sigs better than this one m8.

Cheers

I imagine that those who don't like the graphics will not appreciate the game.
While the graphics looks rather simplistic for current gen FPS, I'm sure the gameplay makes it better.
Iffy on the graphics but I'll still give it a try.

And these screens are from about 3 months ago from a Czech article, so expect the GFX to be improved in time for release.

The Bump Mapping looks great in those new screens, but the lighting is very poorly done, hope they improve it bfore release.

I agree completely - though there is hope all of  the latter screenshots are from last year so there has been plenty of work done since
