Just look up the recommended reading list for AP English, that covers off so many good books it's incredible.
Hamlet
1984
Brave New World
Death of a Salesman
Heart of Darkness
A Dolls House
etc.
Ever read Bad Twin? It's based on the Lost series, but it's a good read for even the non-Lost fan because it only has subtle clues that tie in.jrav091 wrote:
Wow everyone thank you so much for the awesome feedback.
OK so here's the thing with this. The teacher says that there must be literary criticism involved. I'm sure that means it must be a novel. So that eliminates other books. Sorry to everyone that put up other books. I wasn't sure where the instruction sheet was so I was not sure. Also, we just finished reading Lord of the Flies (amazing book) and have already read Catcher in the Rye (also a great book) and Of Mice and Men (ditto) through the previous years of school, so I do not think she will let us use those.
Anyway, keep the ideas coming if there are more out there and I will definately use all of them to make my final desicion. Thank you very much everyone!
Its difficult to get into, but good when you do.ig wrote:

Oh my god. Easily worst book I've ever had to read. Maybe it was because I was only 14 when I read it, but I absolutely hated that book.adam1503 wrote:
Wuthering Heights is good...
EDIT: plus there's PLENTY of literary criticism out there about it.
i read the whole thing and wrote 1500 words on it. hated every minute of it lol.adam1503 wrote:

Well its not for everyone, but then 14 is a little early to tackle that kind of thing. There are so many different things going on at once, and the narrative jumps all over the place, so its not the easiest book to read unless you like that kind of thing (or have to study it for A-Level coursework lol)KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
