Anyone ever work the green chain?
I was thinking about trying to get a job at the local lumber mill, but I have no idea about what it's like?

Anyone have any experience with this?

I live in Oregon where the primary industry in this area is lumber production, pulling green chain is exhausting, dangerous, dirty work. It's hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. The hours can be brutal as production quotas must be met, resulting in mandatory overtime. The money however is good. You can also be promoted to some operator positions at some mills unless they have a bunch of long time employees, in that case its green chain or cleanup. My recommendation is find something else if you can. You can easily get a repetitive motion injury as well.
