If you watch a lot of sport, go plasma.

I bought an LCD TV 2 years ago or was 3? I forgot. It was Samsung's best HDTV when i purchased it and the picture is astonishing. I compared it with plasma and even when watching sports in HD format the picture on the LCD is far superior than the one on plasma.

I'll think you'll find that the best TV in existence (apart from that seksy 150-inch one) is a plasma........Pioneer Elite PRO-110FD Kuro. Plasmas are still better than LCD's but probably not for very long.

resolution on plasmas are 800x600 or 1024x768, LCDs have a res of 1333 and 1900 (something like that).

What are you on about? If its HD its got to be 1,920x1,080 or 1,280x720.

That just shows you have no idea what you are on about.

Haha, you really have no idea what you're talking about. A HDTV (1080p) will have a resolution of (usually) 1900 x 1080.

Sony's X Series LCD's (1900 x 1080):
http://www.sony.com.au/homecinema/catal … ryId=22400

Pioneer's Kuro 50"
http://www.pioneer.com.au/products/home … index.html

This is true of both plasmas and lcd tv's. LCD's tend to do very well at showing animation, for example, whereas plasma's excel at darkness, and fast moving actions, syuch as those included in sport, though some lcd's, like Sony's Bravia X series, are improving.

ok what about this one?
Ideally you want a 1080p set, with a res of 1900 x 1080, that has full HD and at least one HDMI out port.

* I'm not sure if you'll be able to get that for the price range you're looking in though, I'm not familiar with the US pricing.
