they have airsoft machine guns that are basically real LMG's with the firing mechanism removed and replaced with airsoft parts. Same weight, same dimensions. They just don't kill anymore.

As the above said, airsoft doesn't have the boxes of ammo to lug along too.

yes. If you remove the weight of the ammo, (yes, it weights an additional 4 kg I know) it is around the same.

Do you walk around the desert with a whole bunch of other things on you?

Does your gun recoil when you shoot out a plastic bb?

And yes, the older classic airsoft guns have recoil, some after firing 3-5 shots, your gun WILL be pointing in the sky if you don't control it...

Most airsofters do replicate real military squads, and many airsofters are indeed military and law enforcement members. For the mil-sim crowd, weight and accuracy of your gear is crucial. Many will buy authentic gear, as well as put real gun parts on their airsoft guns.

I just said that it is just quite heavy and that I am amazed at how long you have to hold that thing.
