every time my friend gets a promotion he gets to pick 2 new weapons...and me only one! why is this?
He probably has SF while you do not. If you are ranked above sergeant, log into your account on his computer, (play SF,) You will get an extra unlock for each rank earned above s=Sergeat, (e.g: At Lance Corporal, you will get one, ditto for Corporal, at Sergeant you will get two, dito for Staff Sergeant, ditto for Gunnery Sergeant etc.)

i have special forces but havent played it..do i need to play it or just log on as wen i try to on my computer it says i need a unmodified version of the game to play- it is unmodified apart frm the official patch!
You need to actually score points in a round to unlock the weapons.
It sound like you need to reload and reapply the patch if you are getting the modified content message. Do a search on how you need to do it.

just tried it and its working-guna get a few points then unlock the weapons (hopfully!) cheers for ur help
