I have to go with a trio of bands that never got the love they deserved. I'm not saying any of these bands are Zeppelin, or the Stones, or Tull, or RUSH or Black Sabbath, but they were damned good bands that didn't get the credit they deserved:
1. Zebra - Not as good a band as my #2 pick but their quality to appreciation ratio is WAY out of whack. Just listen to Wait For You, One More Chance, Who's Behind The Door, and Tell Me What You Want and if you don't think those are top quality rock songs I don't know what to think of you... They were a damned good band with NO love. As a matter of fact, they're still together and instead of touring as Zebra, they do tribute shows to Led Zeppelin because their lead singer sounds like Plant. God that hurts...
2. Triumph - Another great band that just got completely overlooked. Fight The Good Fight, Magic Power, Lay It On The Line... they were the second best Canadian trio ever, but of course they weren't RUSH so they never got any strokes.
3. Blue Oyster Cult - They come in third even though they're the best band of the three because they got SOME appreciation, but with Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom (not their real names by the way) they should have been huge. They had a dozen just plain KICK ASS songs and a half dozen all-time classics (Don't Fear The Reaper, Godzilla, et al). These cats could have been AT LEAST appreciated like ZZ Top or someone like that. Maybe not in that Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Hendrix way, but surely like Bad Company or KISS or somebody.
