Hello, saw Cables movie, very nice camerawork, and thought I'd put up my short second effort. Lots of people say Blackhawks got nerfed, I still enjoy them, and here's why...

yes, but they suck on infantry.

Hmm, I've not had problems hitting/killing infantry, you can see that moving and hidden targets are quite possible in the movie, that footage is from a single round of 64 player, if you want to rape spawn points for more infantry kills, I prefer the littlebird

As with the gunships, you need some good teamwork and comms between pilot and gunner, even more so as the pilot cannot directly see the target while it's being engaged and has to fly by instruction from the gunner. A lot of the kill on the movie were ambushes, but the first APC kill you can see we have to circle to bring the mini-guns to bear on the target and still be high enough to stay safe.

the only thing they changed on that gun is the removed splash damage. it is still deadly as before

I agree, it only takes one hit, as you can see, to kill infantry.

so the blackhawk is good for killing APC's on 4 or less bars of health, boats and stationary infantry.

tbh youd be better off having some good AT or maybe PKM guys shooting from the bays instead of the guns

Errrrrr, no, it takes less time than it takes to overheat the gun to kill a FULL health APC/AA, that's why there's a little demo to show how quick it is at the beginning. The gun gets to about 3/4 heat when a full health APC should blow up.

If you don't believe me, park up the black hawk next to an apc, and time how long it takes to kill it, then try it with 2 sraws, with the AT it burns a while after the second rocket, so you have to wait for that, with the mini-guns it's a lot quicker, and more fun too

One thing, it only takes two of us to crew the BH my way, and you're safer behind a gun than in the doorways, unless you like dying of course, I assume you're the AT/PKM volunteer in such a situation? and how then are you going to repair the chopper as AT or Support? The idea is to fly round, don't die, kill lots of enemy, and this way works.

The other thing is, the video was ONE round, on an unpopular map and what were the chances of finding a server running battlerecorder then? Sorry I don't have the battlerecorder file where I and my pilot bitch-slap 3 APC's on a flag, killing them one after another in quick succession.

Blackhawk's are generally useless. Flying like that on Songhua is fine when there is low visbility and maps where there is only stationary anti-air, I'd like to see you do that on Tampa, I think Zenmaster did a vid a while bk about it, where they tried and failed 90% of the time to use it as anything but a flying coffin. AA rips them apart along with any good jet pilot.

And it's not really a 'new way' of doing it, just as sitting back from a spawn and spawnraping (which I'm sure you do in your tank to get your K/D). Sitting using engineers/support/medic combo is as standard as ever, it's just not alot of people can be bothered to do it as most of the time, crewing up in 2 tanks and an APC along with a jet for backup serves to be 100x better.

Hated the music and the editing made me laugh. 2/10.

Thank you for your opinion.

You're right about the other maps, Ghost town is the only other where we've come out on top. Tampa in a blackhawk? Blasphemy! That map is armour or nothing, and you're right about me spawn camping, I'll park off to one side, get the tent out and wait for infantry support then proceed to kill anyone who tries to stop the ground pounders getting the flag.

The video is mainly to try and breathe some life into Songhua, an under rated map, I've done it in armour too, this was a nice change to find a way to play it from the air and get even better frag rates. The medic, support, engineer thing is old, I know this, wasn't suggesting otherwise, we like to two-man the chopper, medic flying and engineer gunning, any more and you get people ramming the chopper for the multiple kills, or suicide if they can't even do that correctly.

The editing, my excuse is I'm using WMM which crashes every two minutes, and it was thrown together on the day it happened for clan-mates, originally to show how weak the many APCs on that map are. Every drooled over a +4 APC you just spotted? then noticed it's in the water, sort of stranded like a beached whale? muhahahahah!

The music - not my fault you have no taste (joking) . I don't do guitar music, and there's enough of that kind of thing knocking about as it is.

There are LOTS of ways of getting more kills in a round, I've been around a bit and tried a lot of them, but shit gets old, and trying to do things a little differently, ie hunting for APC's and anything below them on Songhua breaks it up a little, and still improves your chopper stats if that's your thing. My best on there, doing this, is 28-0. Not exactly amazing, but very gratifying, like a job well done with crap equipment (see the UK armed forces for how to do this best)

It's most fun when high ranked APC drivers pause to wonder what is damaging them, as there are no jets, and the vehicle health bar should always go down in chucks, not a constant reduction that sounds from inside like an assault rifle, and who worries about that in armour? It's easier to think you're concooned on Songhua in armour, but you're just as exposed as everyone else unless you're in one of the two tanks.

Try Sony Vegas.

So how did you actually do in that round, and what have your experiences been. I stay well clear of any transport chopper unless I'm driving or I've got people on TS who I can work with. Certainly on Tampa I've found that when I'm in a jet and 2 of my clanmates are in tanks + 1 possibly being commander it works a treat. As I said Blackhawk's are so limited in what they can do now on maps you need an excellent pilot and good gunners + you have to know the map well, to avoid AA or sneak up.

I agree Songhua is an underated map, but I have yet to see (excluding your video) a blackhawk do damage on that map. If I'm on it I'm teaming up with an APC or Tank and I will literally move under a blackhawk or behind cover well before he gets me down to half-health. And a 2 map blackhawk, what happens if you get ripped up by 2 FAV's, you need 2 engineers, possibly 3 to keep it repaired.

I don't drool, I spot, then bomb, then they are gone Rhymes eh?

yes it does, you should be a rapper.

All you say is very true, and is taken into account, we're using teamspeak by the way, so it's much easier to talk. We've done the kill-hunting about 20-30 times now, and to be honest it's the gunners who die most of the time, mainly when they allow the chopper to get too low and APC's or .50 cals can get the elevation needed (see the first APC kill on the video, he tries using the hill to get his gun higher, we see this, and adjust by coming round to the other side).

If we take a single SRAW, then the pilot moves until fully repaired, then off you go again, single, even double .50 cals can be evaded, and the stingers are a good way to get some extra repair points, as someone else said it's quite a foggy map, and lots of terrain to hide as you fix yourself.

In the video, at the point which mentions how tough the chopper is, we had already took a SRAW when you see the second one hit, and we are under constant fire, and still get out ok. Just for a second it may have been burning, but I was on the ball that day
I was the only engineer too, the other passengers you see at the "teamwork" bit of the movie were just throwning mines out willy-nilly then jumping out over the first enemy flag we came to, the usual BH stuff.

After the splash damage was removed, about 1.3 or later they increased the BH armour, so I tried to see what could be done with it. This picture might help you get the idea how strong it can be...It's the constant harrasment factor, we're up here, we're self-repairing and we got unlimited ammo for the miniguns and we're not going away unless there's a tank coming down the hill, and a few AT mines will sort that out, or better still, make the driver bail then dance.

Again, as with the gunships, the better the pilot and gunner, and the more screaming at each other they do, the better the outcome.
