Are you doing this for any reason, like a class, game or mod?

Or do you just do it as a hobby so to speak..

.. Looks nice btw, how long did it take?

Hobby for now.

After college it'll probably become work.

I'm not sure how long it took...I don't really keep track.

Maya 8.5.

I'm hoping to get Maya 2008 once I get a job though.

Have you tried making a full gun with dds textures and coding it for bf2?

Looks nice btw

I'm not too good with low-poly modeling.

I never know what to leave out/make simpler.
I'm a detail freak..

I'd like to try it though. Maybe I'll do that next.

Do an attachment or something just to get it started, maybe a silencer for the pistols. surely you can make a low poly of a silencer ^_^

..That's a good idea.

I have no clue how I'd do that though..

I'll search around for some tutorials.

Very detailed. Shame its too detailed for most games. Might be possible for Crysis, that allows like 4000 polys per gun i think.

Defcon... www.fpsbanana.com go there.

Nice man, but those tris sure do fly away I've become used to low poly modeling so the constraints are not a issue for me, but it took some getting used to

Here is my latest little project: my t-rex "Rexy"

https://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z232/Z-trooper/rexfight.jpg

This is the "low poly" version I use for testing animations on, the high poly is around a million polys at its current state but wont be posted anywhere before it is finished and such.

Here is a little teaser of a older versions "roar" https://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z232/Z-trooper/Modelling/rexysfirstroar.gif

Very nice modeling, lot of details. Do you plan to put some textures? Good job Z-trooper too! and the animation is pretty cool

Vilham: I checked fpsbanana.com, but all the tutorials I've seen were for 3Ds Max.
..Which isn't muuuch different, I guess.
But still..

MrDude: I'll be sure to make sure of that.

Trooper: That's some crazy modeling. O.o
My only 'complaint' would be the hands and feet. They seem a bit small compared to the rest.

Morin: I might try texturing, but I'm not too great with it.

My inspirations are Jurassic Park and King Kong where they have tried to evolve the Rex a bit so it has smaller arms and bigger feet. but its still I agree the feet need to be bigger

Thought I'd share a bumpmapped version of my Rex:

https://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z232/Z-trooper/Modelling/rexybumpmap.png

It just has a basic reptile skin all over atm but thats going to change.
I've spend a lot of time of sculpting underlaying bones and muscle groups as well as skin folds. There is still a lot left to do but notice the subtle rib cage showing through the skin and such (not that visible on this particular render).

That back leg is a little too smooth and doesnt have enough muscle on it. Also, i think its maybe a little too long. Not that i could do it...

Looks very nice though, cant wait to see a fully textured one

I see. Well I am not done yet the feet I havent touched for a while now (besides scaling them bigger), and they need a LOT of work still. I think I want to keep it overall long and not as broad and chunky as it is often shown. I agree with the leg muscles though, making the model long make them seem small compared to the rest of the body.
But then again, it may just be a bad angle and lighting I've captured it at, cause if you look at these renders (older - not as much body skin/bone sculpting done, nice rib cage though)

The legs are broad, but you may still be right and I need go maken them bigger in one direction.

as you can imagine, it is the part I have spend 70% of the time on, I actually have 3 other different versions of the head I wasnt satisfied by.

link so many other things, "practice makes perfect", after all I only started like ½ year ago, but I recon that I have been working 1 years worth of work, I'm totally addicted.
