Why do so many people like it so much?

Sniping in cod4 is easy without even steadying the gun in the first place.
Line up the sites...

But even if you have to steady your aim, why do you need to be able to steady it longer? line up the sites, hold shift, fire. Whats so hard about that?

I thought it was lame when cod2 came out with the ability to steady, because in cod1 sniping took a lot of skill, but now I see people idolising iron lungs.

Wouldn't you rather have last stand?

I remember in CoD 2 that shooting with a swaying scope still hit the intended target.

Before the 1.3 (or was it 1.4) patch, in CoD 4 it was impossible to do so.
After the patch it seems to work 60% of the time.  But there are still moments where shots don't connect, even when I know I was aiming at them.

I wish it were more like CoD 2, where you could take a somewhat skillful shot and be credited for it.

QFT. Aswell, why would you need Last Stand, since when you are sniping, you are hiding behind a wall and they will headshot sometimes and that does not proc Last Stand, or if they hit you in the body, you fall to the ground and you cannot attack anything.

i haven't ever had that problem...

Why do you need more time? do you suck that bad? Regular steady holds for like 5 seconds and you shouldn't even need that...

Guess you're lucky then.

Also, I hope that "suck that bad" comment was directed at Master.  And even then, you're wrong, because Master's pretty damn good at CoD 4.

If somebody kills you close range you can get quick revenge, which is more effective, atleast for me, than Iron lungs

People like it because on pubs you simply can't spare the time releasing your breath between shots when there's an inifinite stream of noobs running towards you. Unscoping between shots is also a bad idea because the rescope time is so damn slow on the bolt action rifles.

In match environments there is no iron lungs so that's that

Last stand for snipers?

Lmao.

That's the most worthless shit I've heard in awhile.

I use Iron Lungs if I suspect someone is about to run from cover. Gives you that little extra time in (s)he runs out after your breath runs out when you're not using that perk.

I highly doubt real life snipers would just swing their gun around and when they crosshairs are on their target, they would shoot. Holding shift allows you to be more accurate, and Iron Lungs keeps that accuracy longer. Try holding shift until you run out of air and need to take another breath. Try shooting a target across the map like that.

You don't really need it for the Barrett or SVD, but for the other snipers that have worse range and more sway on the sights it is useful.

I cant hit the broadside of a barn with or without iron lungs.  I obviously dont snipe much, but I suppose you could put that perk on something other than iron lungs.  Not martyrdom or last stand because snipers are hardly ever in close quarter combat.  Sorry but I cant recall any of the other perks in that 3rd collumn.

Well, actually i am a sniper and i find myself running aroud like an assault often, I guess you could call me assault sniper, or just...Nut!

More on topic, Iron Lungs is usefull, but not needed all the time,...If you go for the Headshot challenge, you will love it, if you just snipe to kill, its not needed.
