BF2S Forums Is it wrong to give a homeless person alcohol?

I call bullshit. We're talking about adults here right?

If you stuck me on a street corner tomorrow, changed my name, stunk me up, took away all I have and my degree, and made me a bum, in a few years I'd be back on top of the world.

Why? I give a shit.

I'd walk straight to a YMCA and ask for a place to sleep. They do that you know. Then I'd hit a homeless shelter and ask for clean clothes. Then I'd walk into a McDonald's and tell the manager that I'd work for free for a week and if after that first week I wasn't the best employee there I'd walk away without taking a paycheck. After that week I'd be hired. I'd bust ass, work my way up the ladder, and save money while living in the YMCA. After a year I'd get a cheap efficiency apartment and apply for a Pell Grant to go to Junior College. After two years of kicking ass and taking names there I'd grab a loan or grant to finish college. All while flipping burgers. At the end of the 5th year I'd have a degree again, a place to live, and job prospects.

My point?

Those people CHOOSE to be bums. They could work their way out of it. The former MAYOR of Austin fucking Texas was a street bum at one time. They DON'T WANT to do the whole responsibility thing. What they WANT is to bum booze and fuck around.

If that's what they want, fuck it. There's nothing wrong with giving them a drink. If you think it's wrong to give them a drink you're saying that they aren't human enough to make their own decisions and that the world needs some sort of titty-baby watchdog approach to things. Maybe you shouldn't let people buy porn either. I'm a believer that people can make their own decisions and if those people decide to sit around and drink all fucking day, who am I to try to "save them"? I wouldn't give the guy a drink because I'm too selfish to spend my money on their lazy asses, but I don't think there's some moral imperative to clean them up...

You are assuming a lot with that post.

Not everyone on the street screwed their life up.  Some of it, might not be their own fault.  Parents determine a lot. 
Also, there are accidents in life that force people onto the street.
The idea that they couldn't work, could be because of an injury.  Whether it be mentally incapable of holding a job or physically incapable.

I think its a common misconception to assume that just because someone is homeless, they screwed up their lives and its all their fault.

As to giving alcohol to them.....I can see how that could be wrong, but if it is the only thing to look forward to each day, then I could understand giving them a drink or even just giving them money and allowing them to choose what to do with it.
If you are so against giving alcohol to them....what about giving something else?

Applying your logic, because he can't work and screwed up his life then I shouldn't give him the basics for survival.  I can't give him happiness because he doesn't deserve it because he doesn't work for it.  That is using your logic.

Pretty much the same as my personal opinion. This is why i dont really respect bums. They chose to be a loser, and yet they want my money because they cant get off there ass and work for it themselves? Well then fuck you have a drink and get wasted and pour your life down the drain, i could care less.

I say do what you feel is right. Some of those people like being homeless. Most more then likely not.  What you guys really need to wonder is ,why do have these charities trying to make us give us money to some poor person halfway around the world when we have our own poor people?
