Hey everyone....I am running Vista Ultimate, just installed it on my computer, with a P4 300ghz, 3.0gigs of Ram, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro with 512mb, Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer Pro sound card and two HDs....one is a 160gig and the other is a 500gig.

Now here is the problem......I can start BF2, I can play single player, but when I go to play multiplayer, it crashed to the desktop EVERYTIME And this happens after is click on the join server button. I have done everything I can think of. I have uninstalled the game reinstalled it, run it as administrator with XP SP2 compatiblity and nothing helps.  Any suggestions as to what I do next?

Well I don't know what else to suggest other than updating your drivers.

I'm pretty sure this has occurred to other people with Vista, I myself had no problems on Home Premium though, so I guess just wait for another Vista user.

I hear nothing but hell from Vista.  I'm going to stick with XP for a while.

complete uninstall and reinstall....delete all the folders everything and then reinstall and patch....I use Vista Ultimate and never had problems but I have had some with other games and a complete reinstall fixed it

try is.....if it doesn't work try drivercleaner and make sure any trace of the video driver is deleted and update your drivers

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Settings

Open up VideoDefault.con with notepad, and set

renderer.setFullScreen 0
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0

to

renderer.setFullScreen 1
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

Do the same with C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\xpack\bf2\Settings VideoDefault.con if you have Special Forces.

or try
renaming the BF2 folder in My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles named 0001 , to something other than that like 0002 ,0003 , 0004 ect...just make sure you have the folder ending in 0001.....

if that doesn't work try updating pb.......

and if that doesn't work you're not doing something right with the uninstall process.....my bet though is it's a video driver issue

have you altered any files for modding?  And are you talking about regular BF2 or SF/EF or a mod like POE2/BFPirates2/PR etc?
Love is the answer

But if it was a video issue, why would it work in single player mode? I just got done manualling uninstalling BF2, so hopefully it will work this time. And no, I have not altered ANY files. It crashes on BF2 striaght, and BF2 SF
